quote:
Judge not lest ye be judged....
A common mistake. While God forbids us to judge the hearts of men and forbids us to condemn them (to say they are going to hell), we are not forbidden to make judgments about reason and morality. In other words, I can judge whether a person's action is objectively a sin--and all sin is damaging, but I cannot subjectively incur guilt upon them. I do not know the status of their hearts or their ignorance. Incurring guilt is left to God. I neither judged your heart, nor condemned you. I made a rational judgment regarding morality.

Exactly where in the bible -- which I have researched extensively, as I studied to become a minister -- does it say that sex is wrong?
We aren't discussing sex in general. We are discussing the objectification of sex, pornography, voyeurism, and the objectification of human beings. Fornication and the like are condemned in several places in the Bible, but the Bible isn't the only source for understanding morality. There is natural law and traditional knowledge to name only two.
quote:
In fact, in the bible, I seem to recall:It is better to spill thyself in the belly of a whore than upon the ground...
Well, you are probably refering to the story of Onan in Genesis 38:7-10, where such behavior was rewarded with death. But it says nothing about a whore, and I doubt it says that anywhere unless you provide the verse. (Which would in turn give us the much needed context.)
The gist of it is, though, that the sexual act is sacred and shouldn't be cheapened (at risk of *death*), so looking to the Bible for elucidation really works against you.
I would be happy to explore this further, but I really think we should respect Kathleen's request and continue this through e-mail. If you want to continue, please contact me that way.
ciao,
