Sorry for the title . . . but I'm currently shaking with excitement.
A long time ago I emailed Jeff VanderMeer for a blurb for a novel. I know it's almost a crime in the writing community, but for some reason he said yes. Which was all great. I sent it, but international post is a nightmare and I have no idea where it turned up, but I thought I'd best not try my luck again.
Then, as some of you may remember, I announced that I'm planning to launch an alternative arts journal called Polluto (here at http://www.polluto.com). So, I thought, I'll email him on the off-chance he's interested in dealing with us. He'll probably say no, but what the hell!
But I was wrong. He replied, saying yes. So, he's agreed to an interview, in principle, and may even submit fiction. What's more, he's also said he'll help promote the magazine on his blog. Which his PR guy seconded.
As another little aside, our very own Deb Hoag will be one of our first authors in the magazine, too. Her story 'Werewolf of Sappho' is to appear, and now I'm trying to commission Vincent Locke to do a picture for it. Let's hope lightning strikes twice :P

Thanks. And now I really need to rub it in: not only do we have Jeff involved, with Vince Lock now illustrating, we've also got Rhys Hughes, who is a personal favourite of mine. Wow! This just seems to be snowballing.
The next attempt: Siouxsie Sioux! Okay, it might never work, but I wanna try my lucky streak one more time.

Thanks. Yes, I still haven't heard from Siouxsie, but we've managed to get Michael Moorcock, Rhys Hughes, Jeff VanderMeer, Vince Locke and Justina Robson for the first issue. And that's more than enough for me :P
