Should I refer to my novel as a "YA novel" or a "Young Adult novel" or a "young adult novel"?*

*I know, I know, I'm sweating the small stuff.

Depends on the audience that is being addressed.

YA, informal
Young Adult, explicit, intended for insider audiences
young adult, formal, downstyle capitalization of proper nouns, general audiences

Well, it's for my query letter, that I'll be sending to agents. So . . . I guess it would be formal?

Formal for no-fault default. Explicit, if known or knowable that that's the agents' preferred style.
