I haven't been able to write for a while -- that happens when too many rejection slips pile up. But my Analog story -- only two pages but still an Analog story -- is on sale this month, and so I perked up at least enough to get nine stories back out on the market, and to send queries about stories never heard from. Three markets still have web pages up but e-mails to them bounced as undeliverable: Cemetery Dance, Aberrant Dreams, and, worst of all, Interzone. Can anyone confirm or deny if these magazines are no more?

But they aren't always open to electronic submissions: "All submissions must be in hard copy except during any specified email reading windows. If no such windows are listed here then we are currently not open to emailed submissions."

Interzone has not had an opening for electronic submissions at all this year (whether or not this is linked to the recent departure of Jetse de Vries, I don't know). It is most certainly still publishing.

I figgured out the problem -- their mail servers will not accept mail without the word "submission" in the subject line. My mail has now gone through. No reply yet from Interzone or Aberrant Dreams. The reply from Cemetery Dance sounded annoyed and said that they were six months behind in reading submissions and did not have time to look up whether a submission was in the stack or not.
