For about half a second, I seriously considered naming a character Jack Daniels.

Now, I had the last name first and was kind of casting around through first names and happened on that along the way, but I thought I'd share so everyone else can have a moment of amusement today.

Whoa, your husband's suggestion for kick-starting your writing is really taking over, isn't it? ;-)

J A Konrath had a series of books with a character of that name.
Of course, it's really Jacqueline.
But everyone calls her Jack.

I've read a bit of one of them. (sample online) It was decent.

I remember a paperback horror novel by Hugh Cave, a writer whose career stretched from about the 1930s to the 1990s. His hero was named "Jeff Gordon." There was (and still is) a very well-known NASCAR driver by that name. Did Cave know, or care? (All I know is that is amused me greatly.)

I almost named one of my characters after another famous Daniels. Her given name was Charlene, but she preferred Charlie. It took me awhile to figure out why that name--Charlie Daniels--sounded so familiar .

I once knew a person who wrote a series of stories about a soldier with the last name Sanders. She thought nothing of it until he was promoted to colonel.
