THANK YOU, Kathleen. You've put into words my intuition on the whole choice of Watson. I'll have to look over the beginning of the Godfather again. Puzo has a bunch of small scenes with people with problems, each of the scenes ending with something like, "Only one person could help him...Don Corleone." Over and over again we read this line, so we're prepped for someone larger-than-life. The Godfather done as first-person from Vito Corleon's pov? yikes no there's a nightmare!
