MAGIC'S FOOL: Let it rest. Easy goal.
MAGE STORM: Keep querying. Two more queries out next week. Yes.
SEVEN STARS: Finish the polishing edit. Keep working on the query and synopsis. Yes.
BLOOD WILL TELL: Decide what to do next. Yep. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do now and I'm reading through it again to get it ready.
Get some work done on the first draft of the short story which may one day become a WotF entry.
Work on another short story idea, too. Could be a flash or not much more than a flash. That's a tough spot for me to hit.

Last Week's Goals Between work and LTUE 2012 I did no writing last week.
Next Week's Goals After LTUE I feel I need to take a step back and think about what my next steps are. I've been weighing the potential of self-publishing. Some of the panels inspired me to go in that direction, but quite a bit of ... prejudice ... exists for those who self-publish.
I'm leaning toward self-publishing, someday, but still need to sit back on let everything from LTUE soak in for a while.
What I Learned At LTUE I learned that Kathleen Dalton Woodbury visits to see what I learned each week. I'll have to come up with something better next week!

Welcome back, William! And thank you, Meredith, for keeping the hearth warm.
Last week: -work on synopsis for WotW.
This has been great fun and very enlightening. I worked out a couple plot issues but still have ways to go.
This week:
Week 2 of Cat Rambo's class is coming. I will probably have associated homework to do, including writing etc. I am excited for it!
WOTW: Continue writing and playing with synopses.
WOTF story: Need to get moving on this before I lose sight of the story completely. So. Revisit story, at least do a first pass edit.
What I learned:
I had tried pre-plotting and writing synopses before as a way to guide the story and they just didn't work for me. It felt clumsy and artificial -- how could I know what the story was before I'd actually written it?
Now that my draft is written, though, i feel like it's been a very fruitful exercise. I know the characters pretty well so I can kind of feel each plot twist and get a sense of how that will work out. It's also fun because there's no commitment. I'm only writing a few hundred words, a couple thousand at most, so it doesn't matter if something doesn't work out. I have spent precious creative time and energy working out a scene or plot point that will never make it into the final round.
So what's the lesson? Know and respect your process, but also don't be afraid to try something new. And don't be afraid to try something that didn't work the first time. We are dynamic, our situations, thoughts, processes change over time.

I wrote 6 days and 2200 words last week. I'm getting so close to the end (only 6 scenes left in my outline), but it seems to get harder to pull the words out the further I get.
Next week, I want to do better. My goal will be 6 days and 3k (it's been 6 weeks since I've done even that well), but what I'm really praying for is a good 10k week so I can just get this done.
Evening update: I've written 3.3k today and still going, making today my most productive ever on this book. Needless to say, I'm pushing toward the 10k goal, and hoping I don't burn out.
Today's lesson: a relatively short-term goal that's a bit of stretch can work wonders (e.g. get this book finished before my sister comes to visit in 12 days). It also helps that the book I'm writing is finally more interesting than the book I'm reading

Emily, 2200 in six days, and 3300 in one day? Nice!
Finished my WotF this past week, but I have three major scenes to add to it. Hmm. Guess I'm not finished.
Still managed a few pages. If not for this thread, I probably wouldn't write in this at all. So, again I have to thank William. (And Meredith.)
