Sorry to be late again. My internet access is still acting up. Let's see if it stays up long enough to actually post this this]/I] time. [Frown]

As for me:

Last Week's Goals:

DUAL MAGICS SERIES: [i]As time permits
, go through the x-ray listings for the Dual Magics boxed set and THE BARD'S GIFT.
Nope. [Frown]

BECOME: TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING: Promote through social media.
Hmm. Not this week. [Frown]

BECOME: TO RIDE THE STORM: Move forward with the first draft. Try to get about two more chapters down.
Yes! And more. [Big Grin] [Cool]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

DUAL MAGICS SERIES:
As time permits, go through the x-ray listings for the Dual Magics boxed set and THE BARD'S GIFT. Well, now that it's summer, maybe I'll get around to this. Probably not this week, though.

BECOME: TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING:
Promote through social media.

BECOME: TO RIDE THE STORM:
Move forward with the first draft. Try to get about two more chapters down. The goal is to finish this first draft by the first week in September. I'm on Chapter 33, 62,000 words in.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Projects on the draft boards and in the studio move apace. The focal narrative project, too, though hampered by my intent to portray vivid and dramatically lively scenes. The "I know it when I see it" is about where I am and haven't "seen it" yet.

The setting and milieu of the start are a courthouse walk-thru arraignment and sentence lineup -- futuristic -- for nonviolent and minor misdemeanor offenses. Unregistered indigence, for example. Unemployed and indigent: work search org registration and posted résumé mandated, otherwise, an indigence crime and forty-hour community service sentence guideline. Low-cost public lawyer rentals available at the entrance, or pro se appearance.

The viewpoint agonist visits the site for a selfie with an "inmate" as part of a scavenger salvage contest, part of a pastime role-play gamer treasure and skin benefits, and from which derives income and registered employment -- a hired gamer and grinder.

The emotional tone texture of the scene is of an individual who is not far from indigent status yet a cynical attitude about the "inmates'" indigence, and a doubt, fear, and anger backdrop veiled by optimism that disguises mild-mixed depression about slim and miserable vocational outlooks. A complex emotional state to portray through scene "telling details."

The walk-thru is outside the courthouse, armored kiosks, tinted bulletproof-glass booths. Otherwise, the setting is of a sterile and manicured municipal site. Pretty though emotionally empty and the walk-thru ugly at the back of the courthouse near the Dumpsters and truck docks. Guards in their armored guardhouse. Chain-link and concertina wire fences, of course. Fence corridors for the walk-thru entry and exit. The agonist has no citation, so cannot enter, prospects near the exit to a public area designated for "inmate" and visitor hurry-up-and-wait area.

Huh!? Writing this gives me insights, shy, though, of the mark wanted. In order for the setting details to be relevant, personal interactions, touch even, and pertinent to the overall action, are wanted. A dirt-smeared fleece cardigan sleeve caught on fence barbs while waited for the selfie pose? The selfie itself, likewise, commentary about oblivious self-gratification and nonconscious indigence social exclusion bias? And so on? This is a jobless dystopia and no easy in or out!
