Hey, how about Solaris and the Pirx the Pilot stories by Stanislaw Lem? They're not my very favorites, but they're definitely interesting.
I'm also enjoying the Nightwatch series by Lukyanenko. I love how the forces of good and evil are overburdened by paperwork, regulations, and crafty, ruthless bosses.

David Mitchell is a new favourite. All his books are awesome - Cloud Atlas, Black Swan Green, Ghostwritten and number9dream

I'm a huge Ray Bradbury fan, but for some reason I find myself really sceptical when it comes to other sci-fi or fantasy writers. It's a mental block. Can anyone suggest some authors similar to Bradbury in style? I like how whimsical many of his stories are.

Hmm. If you like David Mitchell (haven't read everything he's written, but I have started CLOUD ATLAS), you might consider trying John Crowley. Of course, what I see that's similar may not be what you would see at all.
