I'm new here and I must say i'm so incredibly obsessed with OSC. He is my hero and my insight... i've been reading his books over and over since the publication of Ender's Game...and yeah dumb me just discovered this site....it never occured to me....
Anyway, is there anyone else out there who is so obsessed with OSC's Enderverse that they find them selves naming their children after his characters? heh, well My oldest son's name is John Carby Lewis (we call him Carn) And our new son's name is Peter Aiken Lewis...lol.
well isn't that just dandy. I'm sure Mr. Card will enjoy that he is so popular.

We have met more than one child named "Ender" -- or named Andrew and called Ender -- at book signings. The oldest was a very handsome 16-or-so year old boy who did not seen at all traumatized by his name. The youngest was a baby girl! We'll see how she fairs with it if we meet her again in 16 years.

I don't have any kids yet... I read Ender's Game for the first time when I was about 12 or so and from that day on swore I'd name a boy Andrew and call him Ender. I'm 26 now. I love the nickname Ender but not so fond of Andy and what if he couldn't stand the nickname I wanted him to have?!
Plus - that's a lot to live up to! I figure I'll give the (future) kids some other names and let them make their names into the kind others want to name kids after... ; )
I still think it's a supercool idea, though.

I also love Nikolai, if I ever have another son, there's a very real possibility I would use that as a name. However, I have a habit of taking names out of literature...
I thought my son had escaped that, for the most part, when I named him a fairly rare biblical name (Azriel Jacob) only to find out AFTER he was good and named that Azriel was the cat off the smurfs.
On the other hand, the girls name we had picked out for him was Alia Krystapher (Alia from Dune)
Right now my favorite girls names waiver between Antigone (I think Tig would be a neat nickname) from ancient greek literature, and a true Card name of Chveya (cuz Veya is also very pretty)

Chveya is such a beautiful name...Homecoming has a bunch of really nice names..and you would never be accused of giving your child a dull, common name!

We joked about naming our daughter Leia because my husband loves StarWars so much. I didn't think she'd be too happy with the stigma though. So we named her Teia and kept the spelling. She's our Princess Teia.

According to http://ww2.howmanyofme.com/search there are 6 people in the U.S. named Andrew Wiggin...interesting website...you type in your first and last name and it tells you how many other people in the U.S. have your same name according to the census. Apparantly, 1,713 people in the U.S. have my same first and last name, and interestingly enough, I've met 2 of them (not related to me)!

Apparently my maiden name doesn't exist, either. As in, no one is listed with that last name.

We aren't going to have any kids, but we decided to name our next pet snake Keener. That counts, right? I've always known that if I ever DID end up with kids, though, I'd name them after either OSC characters or George R. R. Martin characters. I particularly like the names Patience, Petra, Ender, Alvin/Al, and Valentine from OSC novels, and from Martin's books, Bran and Sansa.

According to this site, there are no other Melissa Mistrettas (my first and last names). However, I do know that there IS another Melissa Mistretta out there. I've received email that's supposed to go to her, and had lots of people online ask me if I am "THE" Melissa Mistretta. They're referring to a well-known American Saddlebred trainer who shares my name, but who goes by Missy.
Edit: Oh, wait! It says there are seven Melissa Mistrettas after all. I guess the page wasn't done loading yet. Well, don't that beat all.

gah! there's over 700,000 Angela entries! Why did I get such a common name?! My newest little sister has an amazing name though, Isabeau Anjeannette. 'cording to the site no one else has it. My mom took it from the movie Ladyhawk, which is also amazing in my humble opinion.
When I eventually have kids I want to name one Julian. Love the legumes!

My college roomate and I compared. Only 1500 people shared my first name, and 1300 shared her EXACT name, first and last. We always used to argue, I wanted a more pronounceable name, and she complained that there were too many Jennifers.

That sight got me right. There are only two people in the US that share my first and last name. But as far as naming anyone from the Enderverse, I'd have to ask my future wife what she thinks because I suck at coming up with names.

I pronounce it LAY-UH. I know a lot of Leah LEE-UHs and some LEEs as well.
