I don't know if the link will work (I think you have to be a member to access it), and I can't stick around to find out, but it's just the June calendar from MovieWatcher.com that lists celebrities' birthdays. I was noticing that several people I "grew up with" are getting up there. Dana Carvey is 49. Johnny Depp is 41. Ally Sheedy is 42, for crying out loud, but the one that completely shocked me -- Gary Busey is gonna be 60. I don't remember any of them looking that old. I'm not that old! It just gets worse, doesn't it?

Want to feel even older? Try to name "hot" stars for the kiddie set -- musicians, actors, and actresses under the age of 22 or so.

Man, I hope I follow the Johnny Depp trend and get hotter as I age. Not that I think 41 is particularly old, but it's close to what people tend to think I am. I can only hope I'll be a hottie when I get there.

Thanks alot. I'm gonna be 40 in exactly 20 days, and I really didn't expect to feel so badly about it.
I keep threatening my husband that I'm gonna pick up a twenty-something guy for a wild fling, but I notice those guys aren't looking at me with lust anymore. One young man who I worked with said to me a few weeks back, "You can't cry in front of me, you're like my mom, and I can't watch her cry either!" (I had just failed to get a promotion I was expecting) Arrgh! A 24-year-old man thinking I'm his mother!

The only way I can deal with it is with humor. Just yesterday one of my coworkers - I think she's about 30 - said she was asking some of the "old" people she knows about the Reagan years.
"Old?" I asked. "What ages are we talking about here?"
She replied: "You know - people in their 40s and 50s."
*old enough to have voted against Reagan - twice*

I'm 25, to me "old" is like 65+ and middle aged is 30-65 anything under 30 though and they still think you are too much of a young whippersnapper. I would never think of anyone who voted for Regan as being truly old. You gotta remember WWII in order to be "old".

i don't see why i need to get any older. this is the age i can rent cars at in other countries. after 25, i don't think there are any extra privilidges i care about. porter said i should wait to 35 so i can be president. i don't want to be president.
actually...not driving in ireland was pretty cool. maybe i should turn 24 again this year.

I visited Jon Boy's site yesterday and saw his pics of some Utah Hatrack get-togethers. Man, I'm ancient.
I'm thinking that in real life people my age might dismiss those people in the pictures as "not ready for primetime." It's cool how the Internet is a great equalizer and allows young people to have credibility amongst old geezers.

I define old as "remembers vietnam". I do this partly to be contrary, since folks who were aware during vietnam coincidentally really hate being thought of as old.

Wow, this thread is like the fountain of youth. I'm feeling younger by the minute just reading it.
And back around Reagan election time, though I was too young to vote, I was kinda rooting for Anderson. A third party candidate didn't have a snowball's chance in Houston, though. Of course in that year, neither did a second-party candidate.

35 in 14 days, and I shocked the lifeguard at the neighborhood pool. He evidently thought I was my kids' nanny.
Robert was prertending to drown, and I fussed at him for it, then I told little lifeguard boy to tell me if he did it again, because I'd take him out if he did. We chatted a bit, and I said something like, "You have one child and you think you know what you're doing, then you have another and you realize you don't know much."
And he turned to me, eyes wide, and said, "Those are your kids!?"
It surprised me because I definitely have the body of a person who has had babies. No question. I guess I must just act young or something.
Anyway, it made me feel good. Like getting carded at a rated R movie.
I wasn't old enough to have voted for or against Reagan, but I , um, DID volunteer at the Republican headquarters in my home town. I was almost 16 when he was re-elected. They let me and my teen buddies open and run the office on Saturdays all by ourselves. We made the complementary coffee and watched cartoons. I am a bit embarrassed by my youthful Zealot-hood. I think I'm a social liberal and a fiscal ... "clueless" works for me, I guess.
But, yeah. I'm old.
(and I got "King of Pain" stuck in my head for the same reason)

That's funny because I do love the water, despite nearly drowning twice as a child (once in a lake and once at a pool). Didn't scare me though, at least not enough to keep me out of the water. Actually, afte rthe second time (a much closer call than the first) I really thought drowning wasn't a bad way to go. You get theis sudden sense of pease and calm just before you go unconscious. I'm sure it's just oxygen deprivation, but it gave me the fearlessness I needed to really learn to swim in deep water. I know how weird that sounds.

Regarding remembering the 60's, how about the scene in Field of Dreams where the book-burner says, "I remember the 60's." Annie's response is, "No, I think you had two 50's and skipped right along to the 70's."
My memories of Vietnam are listening to the evening news and wondering if Viet Cong and King Kong were somehow related.
One thing I like about flying into Salt Lake is that everyone cards you when you order a beer anywhere in the airport.

My wife is 34, but people routinely think that she's younger, typically 25 or so. Oddly enough, at the high school where she started teaching last year, a number of students have assumed that she was a senior, and one fellow teacher tried to kick her out of the teacher's lounge (and then was incredibly embarrassed when she learned that C was a teacher rather than a student).
How it is that people think she looks like a teenager is beyond me. I mean, she looks phenomenal, but she doesn't look like a kid at all. I wonder, sometimes, what people think when they see us out together. I'm two years younger than she is, but I look older than I am, I think, so I expect they think I'm a cradle robber.

Skillery, you beat me by a few weeks. I guess you are as young as you feel. My oldest son graduates high school today and my youngest daughter recently celebrated her 1st. birthday. I often think our attitude on life and where our family is at makes us "young" or not. I still like to go on the swings and slide with my children, while some people I know who are my same age consider fishing a physically challenging sport.
