What’s your wish list of stuff to do in your life?

Farmgirl mentioned having one in the balloon thread, so thought I’d post mine… anyone else into posting theirs??

Wish List

The general ones are love, develop faith, have a long and healthy life, and help create world peace…

More specifically now, in no particular order:

  • Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (or some other tall mountain that doesn't require rock climbing – I wanna be on top a mountain, only without the whole falling-to-my-death risk)
  • Do jello wrestling (or pudding wrestling, or okara wrestling)
  • See Village Homes in Davis, California -- famous ecological housing development -- http://www.rmi.org/sitepages/pid209.php
  • Be in a New Games Tournament
  • Do an isolation tank float or salt water float
  • Play Calvinball
  • Be in a musical
  • Do street theatre
  • Learn Thai cooking or Indian cooking
  • Try a henna hair rinse
  • Do henna body art
  • Do body painting (where you coat yourself in paint and roll around on giant sheets of paper)
  • Be in a room full of balloons (like that scene from the Patch Adams movie)
  • See a topiary maze (I've been in a corn maze, but I'd like to see a topiary maze, too)
  • See a solar eclipse
  • See a 24-hour day
  • Take a Green Tortoise vacation trip -- alternative/hippie bus line, very relaxed bus tours – www.greeentortoise.com
  • See the Northern Lights (I've seen a few glimmers, but haven't seen a real "show")
  • Go to the Burning Man Arts Festival in Nevada
  • Visit a sandy desert
  • See a tropical rainforest and a tropical island
  • See an active volcano
  • See a meteorite and a meteorite crater
  • See a giant redwood
  • See the Monarch butterfly migration site (Mexico)
  • See Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons through a telescope
  • See the white sand dunes in the SW US
  • Speak/read a foreign language fluently (I've got some French, Spanish, and German... not enough to be fluent though...)
  • Learn to sight read music
  • Try hallucinogens if I ever come down with a terminal illness (I’ve never done any drugs, partly since I think I’ve got an addictive personality, but if I know I’m gonna die, I’ll wanna try a few hallucinogens, I’ve always been mildly curious about them)
  • Go snorkeling
  • Go scuba diving
  • Live long enough for astronomers to figure out the nature of the universe – is this a multiverse, is it expanding or shrinking, etc! I wanna know!!
  • Live long enough for scientists to figure out how to extend human life [Smile]
  • Learn to do mosaic
  • Learn to do batik (the whole wax technique part -- I know how to do the strings and tie dye part, but not the interesting wax stuff)
  • See a baby being born
  • Try hypnosis
  • Get rid of having vertigo so that I can go to the Grand Canyon…
  • Go to a natural hot springs
  • Play paintball
  • Experience zero gee (this may have to wait for technology to advance a lot…)
  • Go into space (ditto)
  • Indoor sky diving
  • Balloon jumping, like with Parabounce – www.parabounce.com
  • Go roller blading
  • See Gaviotas Community in Colombia -- http://www.friendsofgaviotas.org/about.htm
  • Go on a several day bike ride
  • Visit Liechtenstein, Andorra, and other teensy countries
  • Visit the UK, Belgium, Italy, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand (lots of places in
  • Asia and Latin America I’d like to see too, but definitely staying away from for awhile until my health’s better, I don’t wanna pick up any tropical bugs right now…)
  • Teach someone to read (I love reading, I’d love to get to introduce someone else to it… I read to kids all the time, but I’ve never actually taught any of them to read, they’ve always learned it at school or elsewhere…)
  • Become a better cartoonist
  • Lots of farming projects and famous farms to see…
… I’ve been adding to this list for a few years now; there’s some stuff I’ve already gotten done that’s not on the list. And I was thinking about the list today, and said, hey, the henna rinse, I should do that, so I got together with a friend and right now I’m sitting here typing this with a bag on my head while I wait for the stuff to set… and I’m going to Burning Man this year, so I’m doing that at last…
A lot of this stuff has to wait on me being in better health to do it. And a lot of it costs $ that I shouldn’t spend right now… but there’s still stuff I could be doing, I should work at this list more [Smile]

I keep thinking up wishes that can't come true, like being able to fly, or to stop time, or heal diseases. Or to own a live version of that Undo command that is on my computer.

Then I start remembering all the wishes I used to have, those ones that can't ever come true now because it's too late, I've either waited too long or gone too far or gotten too old.

The only thing on my active wish list that I can think of right now I can't even say out loud. I really can't think of any others.

I'm thinking Danzig's dream girl will be perfect. A perfect undercover cop, maybe. Be careful what you wish for, Danzig [Smile]

Ah, come on Theca! I'm a firm believer in NEVER being too old!

I'll have to pull out my list at home and post it tomorrow - but it isn't nearly as extensive as plaid's!! Wow! what a list you have!

Farmgirl

edit: although the list I originally talked about in the balloon thread was not a list of THINGS (possessions) -- it was a list of things I want to accomplish before I die. Events. Like going ballooning....

I was a kid when that particular song ("Eduardo e Monica") was a big success. I was wat...12, 13 years old, I guess... I was teased a lot in school because of that song. And there was a girl called "Monica" in my class, so yeah...we were teased a lot because of that song.

Childhood...always fun remembering [Wink]

I want a girlfriend before I turn 26 on the 26th of August
I want to become a writer
Somehow, I need to get millions of dollars so I can give one million to my friend so she doesn't have to work this crummy job
I'd like to play back all the money I owe people and never have to ask for money from people again.
And I want to stop working at the Stupormarket.

I give up on the whole cleaning thing. I hate cleaning... Perhaps if someone was nagging me about it I'd do it, but since it's just me, Why should I care?

Hmm, [Wave] Hi Mrs. M! I thought about you last night when Carson on Queer Eye bought Ferragamos.

Things I wish for:
  • Breed a Cardigan Welsh Corgi that gets an Award of Merit at the National.
  • Get organized. (will probably never happen but I can dream)
  • Have our home be a comfortable nice looking place and be able to say "yes we did it ourselves"
  • Visit every other continent at least once
  • See Le Tour De France for at least a few stages.
  • Be in great physical shape
  • Have remotely decent fashion sense
  • Have a wall to wall and floor to ceiling library with beautiful wood craftsmanship bookshelves and rolling ladders

I would say life hurts and you grow from it, but I'm still trying to work out the growing part.

And if they say no - well, I'm sorry. But there are other people out there and maybe, just maybe one of them might be a better fit for you.

Which is amazingly cold comfort I realize as I've been there several times myself.

Cute is in the eye of the beholder.

Painfully shy - been there, done that.

And I'm not trying to make light of your dilemma, I promise. But until you mentally push yourself over that hill, you'll never know.

And a good relationship is worth all (at least most) of the bad ones.

I want to...

1. ...develop a metal voice that dudes will want to listen to, without smoking to do it.
2. ...get a dog. I've been wanting one my whole life.
3. ...go on tour.
4. ...learn all the major languages.
5. ...become the mom that I envision whenever I imagine the mom my kids REALLY deserve.

Number six would have been "...have someone say, 'You're just like Grandma'" but that happened to me recently. [Big Grin]

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

I can't SING though! I STINK! Good Lord, how I stink!

<-- stinks

My choices are to scream like Tony Campos but that makes me screech so high, because I'm a girl. I can sorta croon all Tina Turner style, but that doesn't fit the genre.

*sigh*

Tony Campos plays bass and does backup vocals for Static-X.

Actually, I have no problem maintaining an interesting mezzo soprano metal voice, but I don't like them as much. I like the deeper growling so I have been trying to go lower. I can sorta do it and stay on key, but it's not metal anymore, it's sing-songy and I don't like that as much.

I'll probably be forever singing backup, with an interesting solo now and then.

They sometimes have disturbing lyrics, but they are in Japanese for the most part anyway.
There's-
Filth
Obscure
Kasumi
Zan
Pink Killer
Bottom of the Death Valley

and pretty much all of Vulgar if you like the more aggressive stuff.
They have some great none aggressive stuff too.

I'm with you on the Northern Lights, plaid.

So:

-See Northern Lights and visit the arctic circle.
-Visit/live in (for a couple of months or a year) New Zealand or Australia (somewhere in the southern hemisphere)
-University year overseas.
-Visit Scotland, Wales.
-Visit France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Denmark, Russia... (you get the idea)
-Spend longer than two days in London, England! I hate whirlwind trips!
-Go camping and hiking. Really camping, though, as in not in a campsite, is in my tent is blowing away and all I have left to eat is canned beef. This may be coupled with the New Zealand visit, but my camping experience is somewhat limited, so I need to find someone with the knowhow.
-Learn to recognise constellations, stars, planets, etc, so I can say "Jupiter's bright tonight" [Big Grin]
-Go to a convention. There's a Harry Potter convention in town, but I'm not allowed to go [Frown] . I am resolved to go someday and be geeky.
-Go up in a balloon.
-Publish something.
-Learn to canoe properly; paddling on one side of the the canoe.
-Archery and/or fencing.
-Learn to play tennis well.
-Learn to ride.
-Have my piano teacher satisfied with my progress/practice so she doesn't refuse to teach me up to my exam [Angst] . That is the wish I wish would come true in the near future, because if not, I'm doomed.

I forgot also getting in great shape. I'm actually doing something toward that this year, though, so it's not so much a wish.

Another biggie I can't believe I forgot is for me and the Man to have the longest marriage on record. The current record is 83 years, I think. We would both have to live to 104. And still be married to each other [Wink]

I need to TRAVEL! If I kick it before having a romantic relationship and traveling or if the world ends before then I will be unhappy. [Frown]

I'm a step ahead of you, Pooka. We only have to live until I'm 102 and he's 101. [Big Grin]

I hit the UK and part of continental Europe - France and Italy.

It was a blast - I just wish I could have traveled for more than just a month.

As for the romantic relationship - I wish you the best of luck. There are days when I wish I never had and there are days when I wouldn't give it up for the world.
