Just kidding. I'm actually running around northern Utah to hang with friends and hit the job fair at the U on Tuesday March 22nd. I can't make it down to Provo (and I know that's where most of you ARE), but I will be in Salt Lake and vicinity for most of the time. I was thinking dinner (as late as we want it) on Tuesday or Wednesday night (22nd and 23rd) would be fun and anyone and everyone is invited.
What do you guys think? Is during the day better? Is Salt Lake too far away?
I'll have to look at my schedule to see if one of those nights works, but if it's in Salt Lake, evening is definitely better for me. Also, we've had stuff in Salt Lake before, it's not too far. I think that Amka and Trisha both live closer to there than Provo. And I think raventh does, too.
Anyway, I'm in! And I have a car! So I can drive some cool BYU folk if they want to come. (Ashley? Paula(Pajeba)? Jennie(flyby)?)
Also, you might want to double post this on GC. Jon Boy and Ruth would probably be interested as well.

Sounds like fun, I've always wanted to meet Narnia! The only conflict I can see is my class on Tuesdays that goes till 5. We'd have to get the party started sometime after that.

Sounds good to me! I don't care if it's a little later...
For those of you that have responded, does Tuesday night (March 22nd) work? (That's the night after a stressful day at a job fair and I'm going to be in the mood for some chocolate.)

Count me in also. I get off work at 6:00 and work by the airport, so anywhere near Salt LAke City after then works for me.

Uh, is it all right if I come too? I know I'm more of a lurker than a community member, but I'd love to see a face or two. I'll bend my schedule.

Sparky has been getting all excited for Goblin Valley. You're not going to disappoing him now, are you? Herman will want to come no matter which car we take, but I know he has his preferences.

Is anybody taking suggestions for a possible meeting place? If we end up downtown, there's always The Pie just of the U campus (although it's not very big, and not exactly downtown) . . .
Or would it be easier for the BYUsers if it were further south?

The Pie's a little bit too loud if there's going to be a big group wanting to do a lot of talking. Not that I have any better ideas right off the top of my head....

Someone suggested Cedars of Lebanon, which is somewhere I've always wanted to eat but I'll have to get more details on the price range.

Annie mentioned over here that Cedars of Lebanon is around $10-15 per person. (sounds pretty reasonable.) She also said we'd probably need to get a reservation which I am willing to do.
Here's their dinner menu. Too bad we're not going on Friday night when they have belly dancers. just kidding!!
What do you think? I must admit to being a culture loser and that I've never had north-African food. I'm up for it if you guys are!

Well, Nathan got Jon Boy thinking about pizza in the other thread, so now I want to check on the prices, but I can't see the site because of my archaic computer here at school. www.thepie.comPosts: 6415 | Registered: Jul 2000

Ok, so Jon looked and a large pizza at The Pie costs about $13 and some change. A large would probably feed 3-4 people....I guess that wouldn't be too expensive and if you wanted to order side stuff, you could pay for it yourself?
Cedars or The Pie. What's it gonna be? Let's vote.
I vote for Cedars.

Yay Rabbit!!! We'll probably be where ever we are for a while....
speaking of which, WHERE are we going to be? We keep adding more choices and I'm kerflummuxed. It's up to you guys.

I would be happy with either option. I would tend to vote for The Pie solely because it is cheaper and I'm poor, but Cedars of Lebanon sounds fascinating.

I vote for Cedars. The Pie is cool, but way too loud. And very hard to park, since it's across the street from campus. But either way, I'm fine.

Going along with the theme, I'm good either way. But since that doesn't do us any good, I'm going to cast my vote for Cedars. I'm game for an adventure. (And no, I haven't forgotten that I'm the one who suggested the Pie in the first place).

I haven't been to Cedar's in a long time. I'm not sure if a Tuesday night will be so bad at the Pie. What we may want to do is solidify plans and make a reservation somewheres when we get closer to the event. If folks are more up for potlucking, I can have it at my house. Porter/Bev and I both have truckloads of kids. Though a Tuesday night shouldn't be quite as difficult to find a sitter for.

Hm, that is another option. I wouldn't want to infiltrate your house though Trisha....could you bring them and let us hang out with them? Would we be too late for that? (probably.)
Hm. *scratches head* Thoughts? More of them?

Then I'm all for Cedars--I'm definitely not a cheese person. But I'll be okay if everyone decides on The Pie.

Here's my post at GC where I was bemoaning the fact that all of us are so easy going and indecisive.
quote: Well, do you guys really think that Cedars would be more expensive? If it's $13 for a large pizza and we have....over 10 people there...
Well, I guess it would be huh?
Who's coming?
Bev and Porter Narnia JemmyGrove Muppet Jennie Jon and Ruth Mark Mr. Gumby Trisha? Speed and wife (and family?) Magson Rabbit
That's 15 people right there. I would say Cedars just because I've heard it's easier to fit a group that size at a table together. Do you think a 10-15 person group would be successful at socializing at the Pie?
I want to decide, but I also want it to be the RIGHT decision.
So far the only solid votes we have are for Cedars. If you're violently opposed, please speak now, or forever...

Okay, Cedars is great, and if that's where we go I'm all for it. But if we want another option in the same price range, there's a really excellent Korean restaurant in town as well. It has a banquet room that we could probably reserve if we had that many people, and it's not so near downtown so it will be much easier to park.
That being said, when Annie came to town we went to Cedars and it was great. Nice atmosphere, good food, and very easy to sit around and talk. So I'd be cool with that also. Just thought I'd throw out another possibility in case anyone prefers Korean food to Lebanese.

Thanks Speed. You're helping me to be more decisive.
I'm deciding that I don't want Korean food.
You're also helping me see that we should probably go to Cedars. I don't think it's that much more expensive actually.

Ok. Check out the discussion on this thread over here. Mark has volunteered his place for a more cozy hang-out type get-together.
Does this sound good? I didn't want to make someone host something just cause I wanted to meet y'all...I'm one of those that hates to put anyone to any trouble. But if Mark and his roommates are cool with it, I think it sounds like a great time.
So is our list of attendees still the same? That puts us around 15 so far. (Yay!!)

I'm all about the potlucks, and Mark's place sounds both more central and generally cooler than mine. The sigs and avatars have gone all wacky since I was there. I'll have to go check it out when I'm not working. When you guffaw, people know you're not bookkeeping. Or they pray you're not, at least.
Okay, so I was going to ask if they have mallomars where you live and if so could I persuade you to bring a box I can pay you back for. My husband has always been curious about them.

If we have a big group, The Pie also has the Super Large 23" pizza which cost about twice the price of the large but an feed a small hord.

Well, if we're meeting at Mark's, I imagine we won't be eating pizza from the Pie...unless they deliver to Taylorsville.
Did you see the link to the other thread Rabbit? Mark volunteered his house for our use and we're going to have a lounging get-together at his place, ordering pizza etc. We haven't decided on a time yet and that's really up in the air. I can get there any time after 5 probably and the Provo crew will probably be leaving after 5, so somewhere between 6-8 or something like that?
yeah, that's pretty vague. I guess there is no plan.

I'm leaving for the drive to Salt Lake early tomorrow, so I won't be on to check very much. I'll keep in contact with JemmyGrove by phone and if need be, he can email my cell phone number to any of you guys. I'll harass him to check the board often in the next few days to let me know what's going on.

On GalacticCactus it seems as though we aren't going to go to The Pie, and I haven't really heard wether or not people still want to order The Pie, and pick it up since they don't deliver out to Taylorsville.
I suggested Papa John's, and no one has complained over there. It doesn't really matter to me; I am sure I could go pick up the pizza from The Pie.
If you could email me saying that you are coming, I'll bcc to everyone a map, and my cell number. raven at kekeke dot org

I don't have a strong preference when it comes to the pizza. I've heard amazing things about the Pie, so that sounds good, but it sounds like more of a hassle. How much pizza will we need to feed that many people?
