What Samp said.

Also, BB said "hopefully today" yesterday...he has to moderate the whole site as well as presumably have a life, and yet you feel it is appropriate to expect instant results but won't take the time to even click the "Report Post" button.

Get over it already.

If your argument held water Kwea's post would no longer exist by now, and it still does.
His post was modified a little earlier today.

Nice try.

Kwea's post was not modified until 5:25 P.M.

These times are not comparable. For some reason, edit stamps do not get modified the way post time stamps do, depending on the time zone you have chosen.

Dobbie: I wrote that post to Kwea and AOS much earlier. Today, I edited Kwea's post, as upon reflection I didn't feel I should let it stand.

And I don't appreciate being called a liar.

Oh Dobbie, you aren't fighting for some noble lost cause against a corrupt standing body. You are being inconsolably prickly. Kwea's bad comment was a reaction to your bad comment...your negative behavior was the start of this and now you portray yourself to be some kind of martyr to this horrible injustice you have suffered and its all just crap.

It's really quite a lot simpler than that: Dobbie is screwing with people, that's all. He's portraying himself this way because...well, that's his thing-messing with people.

I agree entirely with Dobbie's point about the inconsistent moderation between his post and Kwea's. Now that BB has amended his mistake, I think everyone should stop making such a big deal about it and move on with their business.

Though, I also agreed with Dobbie's original post, and felt it was a fair response to Rabbit.

Thanks, Stone_Wolfe_. That's a fair correction. [Big Grin] Considering the size of this forum, and the amount of activity it gets, if BB only takes a day to modify a post that wasn't even whistled, that's pretty good in my book.

I almost commented on that, but then thought, "Seriously, no one is going to suggest that it falls within BB's scope of responsibility to go searching for a post that wasn't even linked from the complaining thread."

I guess I was wrong.

With respect to BlackBlade and the efforts he puts in, I don't understand how that wouldn't fall under his scope of responsibility, especially when we're talking about a current thread.

Wow. I would never moderate a board where it was the community expectation that I go searching for threads when it would be simple for the complainer to whistle them, or at least provide a link in his public complaint.

To expect otherwise is, in my mind, disrespect to BB and the efforts he puts in. Why in the world would someone choose to disrespect that work by making EXTRA work for him? Providing that link is under the scope of the poster's responsibility.

It's BlackBlade's responsibility to check up on unwhistled posts which are mentioned, not even linked, by a known pain in the ass member complaining in an absurd, clearly screwing-with-us fashion?

Naw. Dobbie knows how to get BlackBlade to notice, y'know, a thread that deserves notice. It's right there in every single post-hell, right here it's on the screen at least a dozen times! He could've gotten exactly what he claimed to want in a much more direct, less attention-grabbing way. I don't know why on Earth anyone is taking it seriously-which leads me to think that...maybe you're not (shocking from Jebus, too:p )

Is it too late for me to disrespect the effort he puts in too? Because I'm fairly sure there's been long stretches of time where he's not actively moderating the forum. Something of an average of 7 hours, typically during the night. Is that what passes for moderation around here?

Well, I'm not setting BB's mandate, but as I understand the rules of "being respectful", if he's made aware of disrespectful behaviour, he's gotta go get rid of it. The context for how he was made aware, or who did it seems irrelevant from a perspective of doing the job, since one post like that can easily spiral into a large thread full of posts like that.

BlackBlade did eventually check up on it, and did do something about it. So I don't know why you're arguing he shouldn't have done that, you're just arguing that he shouldn't have done it right away I guess?

And to clarify, because I know someone is going to make a comment about me (though I can't remember the last time BB had to moderate me (mmm, sounds kinda kinky)), I don't take issue with the substance of either post, I'm just commenting on the different way they were handled.

I eventually just ran a search for Kwea's post when Dobbie quoted it, it wasn't that hard to find. I'd greatly prefer a post be whistled, but I wouldn't say that just because a post wasn't whistled that I can then just give it a miss.

That's what I did, too...though it probably took me quite a bit longer than it took you, since I'm not as familiar as most with how the searching features work here.

And while I applaud you wanting to not "give it a miss", I've moderated a board before, and I know that even on a board much less active than this one, I couldn't see *everything*, and I relied on people to bring things to my attention from time to time.

Rakeesh said that BB shouldn't be held accountable to doing something, and jebus flipped that around and said that Rakeesh was saying BB SHOULDN'T do it at all.
