PSI how do you define newbie? Am I still a newbie? I've been here since December of last year.

I guess newbies includes me. ok, Name: Nathan Stanislawski Now I hope you can see where the first part of my displayed name came from. Due to the fact that I am really really good at my workplace as one of the training petty officers, they often add the last part. That and it rhymes. Sometimes things happen by PFM (Pure F'n Magic), and I will incriminate myself no further.

I have been registered for over a year, but participated solely on the other side until a week or two ago.
I am a big fan both of OSC's novels as well as his reviews and political commentaries, which is pretty much why I got involved at all.
My wife (screen name beverly) and I enjoy discussing OSC's articles. After the one on gay marriage, somebody on the other side pointed out the bruhaha that it caused over here. I wasn't that interested in what was going on here -- I've never really been much a part of an online community before. I've tried, but always got fed up and left.
My wife was interested, so I pointed her towards that thread. She got interested, signed up, and started posting on this side. After about a week, I decided to try it out. I must say that I've really enjoyed it. One thing that I really like about here is that while I absolutely, completely disagree with on very important topics with certain people, I still respect them because they act respectful.
I work out of my home, and all of my good friends left the state when they graduated from the local university (BYU), so I haven't really had anybody to discuss politics with for a long time. It's great to hear different views besides the party lines, the media line, and NPR.
Anything else you want to know?

i suppose I'm new....but i dont really care. Seems like you get a lot of sympathy and attention if you do. Whatever though everyone knows me. By everyone i mean like 10 people.

Probably, but the first time I got an advancement in rank (to E-5) and a bonus (which I so quickly spent!). I don't care for where I am at right now, but I transfer next year so I'll deal with it.

I am sort of a newbie, I guess. I don't feel like an oldie, anyway. Except in real life.
Actually, I found an old name for myself, "E," which is One thousand something, so I guess I am , officially, not a newbie. I used to be on the writer's forum a lot. I tend to come and go depending on what I am up to with work and other life things, so I never get quite established here.

Hi, my name is Rachel. My SN is delicate flower because that's what I am. Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's a lucas non lucento (sp? don't really know Latin, that's the only phrase I've got).
I started reading OSC about a year ago (on a recommendation from my doctor, no less) and have been enjoying him ever since. I found this web site just looking for more info on what books might be coming out soon, and soon became addicted.

Definitely a newbie here! Give me a minute while I find the post where I introduced myself on "the other side" so I can be lazy and just paste it here...
I just discovered OSC's books a few months ago, and since then his books have been almost my sole source of entertainment. I've read all of the Ender books as well as the Shadow and Homecoming series, Treasure Box, Enchantment, Sarah, Rebekah, and Maps in a Mirror. I cried my eyes out at the end of Saints. I think my favorite was Speaker for the Dead (which I read before Ender's Game). I have a bad habit of reading my favorite authors out of order, because I'll go to the library and just take whatever's available!
Its been great to discover the Hatrack community, and I've enjoyed lurking for a while even though I haven't contributed all that much yet.

I'm actually a fairly proficient lurker. I contemplated posting my 100th post landmark yesterday, but I accidentally posted too soon. Shucks, I'll have to wait until I get to another round number.

I'm a high school teacher and I enjoy hatrack. My claim to fame is that I know Kat in real life- she introduced me to this joint. I really enjoy reading here- thank you all for posting insightful and thought-provoking threads.

Zamphyr here, long-time lurker, first month poster.
I'd been lurking for about a year and a half before I finally registered. Forum really seemed to get on a roll after the New Year, lots of intelligent posts on a wide variety of topics. As newbies here seemed to be defined as someone around less than 2 years or people with less than 500 posts, its safe to say I probably won't become an oldie. Judging by my post count in other forums, it would take me at least 3 years to hit that mark, I'm just not that active.
