No, I'm acknowledging the fact that, thus far, all posters with usernames that begin with a Z have been intelligent, witty, funny and all-around great Hatrackers.

Yump, I'm a newbie. I am still trying to figure out how to balance time on hatrack with RL. I am hoping I find a happy medium, because I really enjoy it here.

zgator, Am I correct in guessing that you are a Gator fan? If so, as a fellow Gator stuck in Duke country could I also have the honor of posting from 5am till midnight? I would be greatly honored and humbled by that special favor.

I just joined this wek. I have visited the site, reading OSC's articles and reviews for a few years.

You can have this screen-name if you want Calvin. I think I made it way back when in a thread where everyone was making clones of eachother. I only posted once, and doubt I ever will again.
Just tell me what you want the password to be and I will change it to that.

Thanks zgator! Right now I'm "watching" the Florida/Alabama game go into overtime (by hitting refresh on the cbs sportsline webpage every 30 seconds). All I can get up here on TV is the ACC tournament (Now, I wonder why that would be?)
The Gators just won--75-73 in OT!!
By the way Ela, sorry about your Nolies tonight. I was able to watch that game

But sndrake, it worked didn't it. And J T seems to be a great guy. Raia did us all a favor by making him join.

Newbie here. I'm either logged in as DocCoyote or CoyoteGirl. I made a SN for myself the same day my man made one for us. Since I usually log in on Internet Explorer, it defaults to Doc. Oh well. It's almost always me (Lisa) posting.
Why'd I join? I'm pretty sure it was the God posts. God especially enjoys people who find irreverent humor humorous. Found the site after becoming completely addicted to Alvin, Ender, and everything else. Also, I'm too lazy to post to the actual writing forums, so chat is the next best thing.

I'd say I qualify as a newbie, considering I joined about 10 minutes ago.
I've been posting at PWEB for over a year, but I've always been too scared to wander over to this side of the tracks. I finally got up the courage, and here I am, reporting for duty. The real reason I came here is because I got an inside tip on a Discworld Mafia game.
My name is Ethan (I'm wizzard on Pweb), but you can call me Eljin or Twitch.
I guess that's it for now. Bye, everybody

My name is Karen. I'm sixteen years old (I'll turn seventeen on 04-04-04, which, I'm pretty sure, will be the highlight of my year; I like books and chocolate) and a junior in high school.
I think the most neat thing about me recently is my language-icity. I've taken five years of Spanish (...and still speak at a third-year high school level. yuck), one year of German (I'm rather good at that, so I'll be skipping to advanced 3 next year; go me!), and one year of French (which is so-so). I've also just started Russian lessons, which is very interesting. I want to start Hebrew lessons soon (weeee!) and I hope to at least minor in linguistics in college.
I'm also a HUGE grammar person. I tend to make mistakes (of course!) when typing, and I like to slang it up, but give me something to edit and watch me in ACTION! I'm hoping for an 800 verbal on my SATs this May 1 (I got a 790 on my PSATs, so it's a matter of sleep and a certain level of calm while taking the test). So, cross your fingers!
Why am I here? ... well, I love OSC. He's been my favorite writer since I first picked up Ender's Grade, almost exactly three years ago. I immediately went into his other work, devouring it, and I managed to convert several other friends to Card through EG. In fact, I saw a boy in my science class reading the book about two weeks ago, and I had a little fit of delight (also known as a geek attack).
I like to think that OSC actually sent me into scifi -- I was/am being raised by my grandparents, and my Bummy is absolutely against violence and science fiction (to her, they are interchangable) in all forms. I picked up EG, and not long after I was all over Heinlein and Bradbury. I especially enjoy Heinlein; I'm writing a research paper on him for my English class.
Card is also the only author that I can stand to read anything about religion from. I'm a very liberal person, raised in San Fransisco by pretty free people. I'm also Catholic ('nuff said). A lot of the Christian authors write about God in a way that makes me very uncomfortable, so I stop reading, or don't even pick it up. Card can make it feel real and true, which I love.
I joined the Young Writer's Workshop, and decided to hope on over here to. I like it here best -- the people are much more interesting and nifty! The YWW seems to be an area constructed entirely so that they can bash fanfiction. I'm big into ff (television nerd; ), so I'm a bit like, "Hey! I have original ideas! I write them down, darn it! [insert lots of other pro-ff arguments]"
And, as you can see, I like to talk about myself. A lot.
I'm at least as new as you (see our user numbers) and the one thinng I know based on my lurking here is that just because PSI Teleport asked you to do something, you don't have to.
Of course, simply by posting here, I'm putting myself "front and center" to offer myself at her feet.

I too realize I am a newbie here. I feel so new around here when I read the threads where everyone knows each others real names and talks about how they all meet for lunch and tea and crumpets on Tuedays!
I feel so left out! Anyone on Hatrack from the Arkansas/Oklahoma/Missouri corners?

Bandito, PSI Teleport was giving me an excuse to talk about my favorite subject -- ME! How could I pass that up?

So, anyone for tea and crumpets on Tuesday?... oh drat, I wasn't meant to invite the newbies.
Nice to meet y'all - I'm impressed at your languages, Karen! I'm about to take up French, which will be fun.

I've only been back 5 weeks, so I don't feel too bad posting here. I do see some Florida weauxing above, which is kind of amusing -- almost as overrated as Miss State and Providence, none of whom I picked thankfully.

I'm new. I'm a big fan of OSC; I first started reading his books about 11 years ago or so when I was attending BYU. My favorites are the Alvin books; I've just barely finished rereading the Homecoming series (for only the 2nd time) and Sarah and Rebekah. I've lurked here off and on for a while and guess I'm ready to join in now. Posts: 3 | Registered: Apr 2004

I tried the forum way back in the late 90's after reading about it in the old Hatrack River Newsletter (paper ), but I got flamed for every post I wrote, so I said forget it. And it was too confusing and forums were too new.
I hardly ever post because I don't have time to read all of this stuff. Ok, I do other things. But there are some cool things here, so I stick around.
I'm not to be confused with "Human", who is a piggy and a forum vet. I'm "human_2.0", which means I'm the next version of a program/variable/function that is titled "human". Note the underscore, which is used to eliminate the white space because white space is used as a delimiter. So my name should not be interpreted as 2 seperate names, "human" or "2.0", but just "human_2.0". If that is too much to type, then I prefer h20 ("zero", not "oh", so that I am not confused with water).
Or just h2, which is how a *real* programmer would name the program/variable/function that I am suppose to be.
My most unique ability is being verbose for no reason, which I demonstrated in this post very well.

I never want to see "way back" and "late 90's" in the same sentence again. I'm only 17, and that made chills run down my back.
