I just wanted to tell you that I love your books, and I feel eboldened now to give you these pearls of wisdom I have gleaned over the years:

Yes -- Australia, and you must have suspected I would have known the powder's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong. So, you could have put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you. So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard which means you must have studied. And in studying, you must have learned that man is mortal so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia." But only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA----
Anyway, I hope you (or William Goldman) won't sue or ban me for this, but I felt like it needed to be said.

I love your books and want to thank you for the beauty and maturity you have brought into my life. Your writings have made me want to be a better person.
And forget Utah. You've been to Utah many times. There's still one state missing from your roster of visited states, and it is not a state to be missed. Come to Alaska. We have bookstores here you could do signings at. Some of them are even real bookstores. We have a Barnes & Noble and everything.
Please come do a signing in Alaska. You'll be glad you came.

BTW, OSC came to my creative writing class back when I was at Ricks (and when they still called it Ricks). I hadn't read any of his stuff at the time, but he was a great visitor. He knows his craft, that for sure.
P.S. What is this fabled "You-Tah" everyone keeps writing about?

Each time I read the Worthing Saga it hurts more than before. It's like digging another foot out of a well. Last time I read it I lay on a futon facedown and was still crying when my husband came home. I kept seeing my daughter with no eyes.

I'd love it if you would do another signing because I still have books without your lovely scrawly signature in them. But I also understand that signings are probably a huge pain in the butt.
Your son lives in the Pacific Northwest, it's only natural that you should do a mini signing in say...Portland. Why not do it every year? Good family time with your son and daughter-in-law and some happy, partying PacNW fans.
Oh, I love your books. You take up an entire shelf of my bookcase. Well, not YOU literally (that would be cramped), but your books.

Thank you for posting your "Uncle Orson Reviews Everything" column on your website. I have just been scouring the archives for mention of a movie I liked, and though you didn't review that one (or if you did I couldn't find it), I found several others that I was surprised (and delighted) to find you liked as much as I did.
I don't agree with you about everything, obviously. But I admire your work so much, and the way your mind works (evidenced by your writing "voice"). It's probably utterly silly of me, but when I see what you said about something like Maid in Manhattan or Donnie Darko and it rings so true to what I already thought, I feel a little bit better about myself.

I've been a big fan of your work since the mid 80s, and I've found myself in a geek-rock band (I'm not naming the group to avoid the appearance of advertising...), and was wondering whether you mind your characters being used as subjects of songs (nothing adult or offensive).

To Scott. I've read a lot of books and a lot of them were worse than yours. Especially that one with the kid who saves the world from giant space ants, its name escapes me but that was a good one. Its sequel too, Speaking to the Dead was great. Too bad they ruined it by turning it into a movie with Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment and Toni Collette, who was far superior in 'Muriel's Wedding.'

I find it amazing that even in Britain, American literature and storytelling is not lost on us.
