That Mr. Card is this down to earth guy that is very kind. I had this twisted idea that all people of great prestige were...well mean. It's good to see that a talented writer has a deep religious background and doesn't act badly to his fans.

This website is the best...

ha ha, Jon!

Yeah, he seems like a pretty cool guy, doesn't he? The type of guy you'd like to hang out with. I'd say "buy a beer," but he doesn't drink. The type of guy you'd like to buy a cheeseburger for. There ya go.

That and Brasilian food, of course. [Wink]

I was wondering just the other day how success must change you...you can't tell people to piss off, have to keep an eye out for what people want from you, etc...

It amazes me how humble and approachable OSC is, and how generous with his time.

Way to go OSC! We love you!

I believe his last column mentioned something about celebrities can't buy "Playboy."

I'm guessing it's more image-wise they 'can't' than that they technically can't...

I feel fairly confident in my belief that OSC wouldn't buy Playboy anyway.

I agree with you on the porn, but if I may change the subject:

This may be a dumb question, but how does he prefer to be addressed? Mr. Card seems too formal, Scott too familiar, and OSC too sterile. (I'm assuming he doesn't want to be called Orson.)

(I keep thinking of that SNL sketch where the guy keeps hassling people using the office copier:
"Sting...Sting-man...The Stinginator...making copies...")

Has he ever indicated a preference?

I think Mr. Card is used primarily when people are angry at him, and OSC the rest of the time.

Haha great question, I would probably end up calling him Mr. Card and secretly wish I could be more formal with him...

"Hey Scotty boy hows the writin' goin'!!!"

Yeah he'd probably file a restraining order...

Of course, if I were addressing him directly, I might opt for the Mr. Card.

So I guess the Cardinator is out, right? <g>

Seriously, I thought he might be okay with Scott, but whatever.

OSC did touch on this subject a few years ago in his review column. I remember finding the juxtaposition with a Quizno's review kind of humorous. [Smile]

Edited to add: and in a cross-foral context, my greatest fear currently is being assaulted by the spongmonkeys.
