Ridley Scott recently said his next film will be a sci-fi flick from a book written over 20 years ago and according to http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Ridley-Returns-To-Sci-Fi-Could-It-Be-Ender-9063.html it could be Enders Game. If i had to pick a director for this movie he would be one of my top three but a course we know the man making that decision. So do you all think its garbage or could a Scott/Card project work?

That's based on a reference that Card himself made.
It's not like there aren't plenty of sci-fi books that were written 20 years ago.
Besides, Ridley Scott looks to be pretty busy through 2009. He's producing a half dozen movies and directing three, plus his work on Numb3rs.

If this is the Ridley Scott of American Gangster, then this is not a movie I want to see.
I have never seen a movie that was so unbelievably by the numbers as American Gangster. It's shockingly unoriginal. Well, the script wasn't much to work with, but really the lack of inspiration on that level of filmaking was mind boggling. Considering the look of the thing, it might have at least been a little creative, but it wasn't.

You'll note in the cinemablend article, it doesn't say, "It's a 20 year old book." He says, "I've waited for this book for over 20 years.

The only established female sci fi director that springs immediately to mind is Gail Ann Hurd.

Please don't let hollywood Star Trekify Ender's Game, I would be devastated if that happened. To me, the science in Ender's Game was far more feasible than the usual stuff on Star Trek.
I have a growing suspicion that this movie will never get made. I think hollywood wants it one way when OSC wants it another, and it seems one will have to bend. I'm hoping that's not the case.
