They're all on "Delicate Sound of Thunder" and they're all about Sid Barret.

They're all about Sid Barret and allude to his mental illness.

TTT Crazy Diamond was originally on the "Wish You Were Here" album released in 1975. That was the point of the link, as well as to be a pain in the rump in an impish way...

Emperor P,

You are correct! The songs all contain "backwards masking", meaning, when played backwards, there are hidden phrases that are then heard.

Another One Bites the Dust played backwards says "It's fun to smoke marijuana".

Stairway to Heaven played backwards has a few phrases including "There's power in Satan".

The Wall played backwards says "Congratulations! You found the secret message".

Other artists such as The Beatles dabbled in it as well, including current artists like Marilyn Manson. I just couldn't resist considering my name is backwards. Also worth mentioning, I have actually done the first two, but have not actually done the Pink Floyd one...

And heck, I have NO CLUE as to whose turn it is. Can it be a Round Table Discussion?

They are all on "Delicate Sound of Thunder," an album dedicated to Sid Barrett who left the band due to mental illness.

Sheesh. What do you want from me?!

It is still my turn.

Oh, I get you now, I (for some unknown reason) thought that when you said SOYCD wasn't originally on DSOT, that you meant DSOT was originally released without SOYCD on it!! [Dont Know]

Yes, I am an idiot. [Razz]
But I knew SOYCD was originally released on WYWH. *sigh*

Alucard - I'll be Michael Flately, of course.

tt&t - You deliberately had us on that Sid Barrett track. ::narrows eyes::

This is more of a "what's the connection":

Smooth - Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana
Melt With You - Modern English
Muffin Man - Frank Zappa

This is difficult, so I'll just give you a hint and say it has nothing to do with lyrics and you really need to know nothing about music. [Smile]

OK, here's my three:

My Beloved Wife - Natalie Merchant
Levi Stubb's Tears - Billy Bragg
Long Ride Home - Patty Griffin

I'm not a good judge of how difficult it will be. You're all smart, you can probably figure it out pretty quick.

Are you using country songs?

I think country songs should be disqualified since people with taste won't have any frame of reference.

No, Billy Bragg's song is about a woman living alone after her abusive husband tried to stab her.

It does sound kinda country with that description!

And it does have something to do with the lyrics.

No, "My Beloved Wife" is about an elderly man who wants to kill himself when his wife dies because he doesn't want to live without her.

This may be too hard. I don't know if I'll be around to check the thread over the weekend so if someone else wants to post three songs, feel free.

I'm resurrecting this thread to get your brains kicked back into gear for the school year.

This one might take some research. But you can do it!

Brown Sugar - the Rolling Stones

Femme Fatale - the Velvet Underground

Angel Baby - John Lennon

oooh.... tough. Get to work!

I just thought of a good one today, so I'm going to resurrect this thread. It's a little obscure, but I'm sure there are at least a few people on here that can get it. Here you go:

Imagine by John Lennon
Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens
Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles

I have faith in you. I'll give you hints or tell you if you get warm.

Good luck. [Big Grin]

I know, I know. Sorry. I was hoping no one would require the specific song, but the info I needed to dig up a 3rd song with backwards masking was from the internet, and the site did not specify which song it was. Sorry!

My partner says that each song has one word in common, but I cannot figure it out...

Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens
Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles" into Google, and the site's the first hit. [Razz]
