I remember reading about 2 females who pretended to be guys to be pirates, and both were on the same ship. And blood thirsty pirates they were. How about one of those?

All kidding aside, I'd research into the 19th century pirates in the China Sea. You would need to look at Chinese translations of English epithets such as "Castration Sally" or something.
Here's a neat fact pulled from the net on the lady mentioned to get an idea of the names:
quote: Cheng I Sao (also known as Ching Yih Saou, Ching Shih, and Lady Ch'ing). A former prostitute who married a sea robber, she and her husband organized a confederation of pirates that eventually numbered over 50,000.
These people were serious! Also remember that piracy is almost as old as Man's first venturings upon the sea. You have a vast amount of time to play with.
I look forward to your story!

Besides Dan, does she really want her pirate name to be what her husband cries out in the night?

I am, however, relatively concerned that obligatory Ralphie references must involve the word "dingle."
