Apparently Michael Moore has a guest appearance slated on "The Simpsons". Not that he doesn't have a robust disregard for what I think of his appearance, but how are they going to caricature him?

I think I missed the episode where the Simpsons go to England. Tony Blair, some other guy, and JK Rowling made an appearance. Sadness.

Especially when the guest star is Michael Moore. But the one with Sampras, Agassi, and the Williams sisters was funny.

LOL! She would NEVER appear on such a Liberal show as the simpsons. She probably thinks that they are all traitors!
Although I was really suprised to see her appear once on "Real Time with Bill Maher". She went on and on about why democrats can only have 'joyless sex'. Very strange that one...

Sigh. I don't watch the Simpson's anymore because I actually have a little boy now. Though I have to say the thought of my daughter turning out any more like Lisa than she already is- this would also be frightening. And I do think the man has been eating fewer doughnuts lately...

Is anyone else irritated by Marge's perfection? Not Marge herself, mind you, but the fact that the Simpson family would fall apart if Marge were not a Saint.
This is such a distorted picture of reality, I am totally unable to suspend my disbelief. Now I suspend my disbelief for many other fantastical things, not the least of which is Buffy (the character, that is: the show's become a soapopera), but I find a story that requires the sainthood of one of it's characters to hold the plot together quite disturbing. (I'm on book 4 of Alvin Maker and I'm having a bit of trouble with it for perhaps just this reason. But let's stick to Marge.) This show, The Simpsons, is supposed to be a satirical comment on American life. Through its ridiculous situations it is supposed to be showing us ourselves. Is anyone here like Marge? Doesn't her character simply perpetuate the Perfect Omnicient Omnicompetent Mother myth? Is this healthy for our children?
Ok, I'm getting a bit shrill. Opinons?

Yeah, that's part of why I can barely stand the Simpsons any more. I mean, Homer has pretty much always been a lazy jerk. There are plenty of examples from the earlier seasons of him neglecting or downright abusing his family members. But a) he often apologized, realized the error of his ways, or was at least punished for his actions by the end of the episode. And b) the show was hilarious, so it was easy to dismiss it as just an outrageous show and focus on the jokes.
Now, the show's not funny, ever, so it's harder to ignore Homer's cruel behavior to his family. He is also far more consistently a total @$$hole to them, particularly the women, and now never apologizes or learns from his mistakes. To the contrary, he's almost always rewarded for being a terrible husband/father.... one of the best examples being the rock star camp episode. He gets wasted, broadcasts on national TV that he hates his family, wishes he'd never gotten married or had his kids, and what happens? His family apologizes for not being good enough for him, and Marge sends him off to fulfill one of his dreams! And he doesn't even appreciate it!
I know that it interferes with my enjoyment of the show. However, it's not funny anymore regardless of how Homer is portrayed. If only it would just go away.

Okay, I have to admit, I enjoyed tonight's show. I loved how everyone kept on flat-out ignoring Homer and Bart. It was refreshing. I don't doubt, though, that by next week the writers will be back to their now-regular crap.

Yes, I wondered about this. Usually Simpsons guests do caricatures of themselves, but Moore was just his plain old self – making up statistics to serve his political agenda and then bragging about it.
It really makes you think...

MILDLY ridiculous? There's a reason I stopped watching The Simpsons around Season Nine. The "simple Polynesian village gets swallowed by a volcano because of casino gambling" plot was the last straw for me.

The Simpsons are still better than 95% of the other shows out there. If it wasn't for other great FOX broadcasting it would be 100%.

Hmmm...go to the beach, feel the ocean breeze, sit on the sand and sip cold coconut water while listening to soft "bossa nova music" and talking to my girlfriend :-)
Sometimes, the D&D game isn't over yet, though, and we are just killing some dragons and saving the world ;-)
I don't watch "The Simpsons" for a while, but I found the episode where they como to Brazil very funny (we do not dance salsa over here, but...).
