This is exciting. I can't say it's surprising, you guys sounded so cute and excited to be dating.
But, I'm a little skeptical of ElJay's "You two are awful" comment. ??? Are you pulling a fast one on us? Cause if you are, we'll all be REALLY SAD, cause we WANT you to get married!!!

Bob, isn't she just the most beautiful, wise, funny, heart-wrenchingly awesome woman ever? Her long silky hair, her luminescent eyes, her sweet laugh, her everything? Aren't you the luckiest guy in the world?
Dana, isn't he just the neatest guy you've ever known? Isn't he incredibly cool, handsome, witty, and deep, so strong and so radiantly perfect? Aren't you the luckiest girl?
I soooo wish I could be there right now, just to get high off the buzz you guys are emitting.
And dkw, what a lovely invitation to Ryoko. I couldn't admire you more, sweetheart.

Actually, I see the OR, now. I guess it would be a gay marriage thread. Which would be too bad, because I would avoid it. So, please, either stay the same, or BOTH of you awitch. Thank you.

Narnia - No fast one. I just meant them causing so much confusion and not being around to clear it up. People asking me if they're already married, and me not registered for 24 hours yet. Hilarious...
So don't be skeptical. Just be happy. They're getting hitched!

Congratulations! You two are both spectacular people. I can only hope that the joy of this moment will live on in your marriage and that it will sustain you for many years to come.

I've been a regular poster on a couple of other message boards, with lots of other regulars who have formed close friendships, etc., etc., but I've got to say:
I've never seen anything like this before. This is just amazing. And a little creepy. But mostly amazing.

Just spoke with them on the phone a short bit ago -- they were considering waiting until April first to announce, just so we'd all assume it was a joke (which would have been mighty funny, especially to LDS members like David Bowles), but they couldn't wait that long to share the news. They were meeting with the clergy member who will be officiating the ceremony, so I think it's pretty real.
I'm still in a bit of shock myself, but ever so happy for them. Congrats again, you two lovebirds....

Yeah, like I'm going to trust the word of Papa Moose.
You're in on the joke. I know it.
Now, if Momma Squirrel were to endorse this engagement, well I know better than to question anything Momma Squirrel says.

Are you going to invite our hosts, and our marvelous janitor?
How did this happen, exactly? We want to hear the story!
(CT, I think you'll agree, there isn't a better thread in the world in which to use your 4000th post than a Bob and Dana Engagement thread.)

How come I can picture a thread in a few months discussing their honeymoon entitled, "If Bob and DKW were the same person, this would be an Onanism Thread."Posts: 11895 | Registered: Apr 2002

btw Dana, whenever you get around to reading this thread again. Were your baskeball obessed friends that we met from Iowa City?
My friend that is the cello and orchestra teacher in Davenport is taking a leave of absence from his job, and going to whichever university is in Iowa City for a PhD. The problem is that he needs to find dog-friendly accommodations. He's going to place the two puppies he has left, but his two older dogs he couldn't possibly give up. I was wondering if you knew anyone that could help.
AJ (and yes I know this is kind of out of place for this thread but I know dkw will read it and let me know because she is a kind spirit)

Sweet cupping cakes...Bob and dkw are dating?!? When did that happen?
I think I'll deal with the engagement shock after I get over the dating thing. I'm not sure I'm strong enough to handle both. Come to think of it, maybe I should do it the other way around. You know, get the big one out of the way first, like ripping off a bandaid. <represses memory>.....<done>
So, congratulations you two on getting engaged. The reflected joy I get from this is going to have me dancing through the weekend. Let us all know if you decide to start dating.
