This is a random topic...but as I am getting ready to eat some, I figured I would mention it. I LOVE peanuts. I eat roasted (salted) peanuts the most, as they last forever and I can buy a huge sack and Kash and Karry but when I go see my family in GA I love to eat boiled peanuts as well. My roommate thinks I am crazy...but I would have to say peanuts are my favorite snack.

Lupus,

Don't let your roommate bug you.

It's obvious he just has peanuts envy. [Smile]

lupus,

peanuts are brilliant. if you're ever in the mood to try a salty snack of a semi-exotic variety, might I recommend edamame. snack'o'licious.

I miss my grandma's boiled peanuts. Maybe I should try making a batch myself sometime. Putting just the right amount of salt in the water (read: LOTS!) is the most important thing, so you get that nice squirt of salty peanut water when you eat them.

I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's garlic pistachios, myself. Ever tried them, Suneun? They're amazing.

Cashews. I'm a sucker for cashews. The best of all nuts.

I skipped breakfast in my hurry to get to work, and then when I come in here is this thread, and just the TITLE of it made me very hungry!

I prefer filberts (hazelnuts) myself.

Yeah, those are good, especially in Milka bars.

Brazil nuts are good too (come to think of it, I thought that "filbert" was another term for a Brazil nut. Huh.)

I've never tried garlic pistachios. Amazing, since I love garlic so much. The only flavored pistachios I've tried have been jalapeno, which were.... spicy....

yep cashews are good too...so are almonds.

Though one thing that is kind of odd...since I love nuts, I hate nuts in my ice cream or chocolate. I don't like that mixture of textures.

Cashews are awesome, but I think I recall hearing that you shouldn't eat too many at once. Apparently raw cashews contain a poisonous chemical that gets leached out during the preparation. Enough remains, though, that eating a whole bunch at once could be dangerous. Although, I don't remember how many you'd have to eat in how short a time. It may not actually be possible.

My stepdad is from Virginia and every year his parents send us a tin of peanuts. I forget the brand name, but they're the best peanuts I've ever had.
