Does anyone remember the show's name where a guy (he was a teacher, I think) is given s superhero suit by aliens but loose the instructions? He had a friend who was an FBI agent, who helped him to find-out about the suit's powers.

The theme song started like this: "Believe it or not..."

I remember the suit was red.

I'd like to know the name because I discovered a guy at "mercadolivre" (kinda brazilian ebay) who has some old sitcoms taped to sell.

Does anyone remember this sitcom and its name?

And I never considered it to be ancient.

*watched episodes of "Leave it to Beaver" and "The Ozzie and Harriet Show" on their original airings*

Ancient! [Grumble]

Thanks for the name!

Unfortunatelly, the guy does not have it, which is a bummer [Frown] (fond childhood memories).

The song's name is "Believe it or not", isn't it?

And yes, the show was awesome! Does anyone know how many seasons were aired? I guess there were 3.

I once got into a heated argument about which car was cooler, KIT or the General Lee. Hands down, the General Lee.

Did y'all see the Seinfeld where George makes an anwering machine greeting to the music of The Greatest American Hero theme song?

Believe it or not, George isn't at home...

"General Lee" is from... Dukes of Hazard? (If it isn't, please, don't kill me or anything, ok?)

KIT I remember! What was the show name in english? Here in Brazil its name was "A Supermáquina" ("Supermachine", or something like that).

It was called "Knight Rider," because the driver's name was Michael Knight, like the armored hero, and the car was black, like night (i.e. a homonym). In America, we think homonyms rock.

Edit: we also think night is inherently cool. A show called "Afternoon Rider," while intriguing in a soft-core porn sort of way, would probably not have been as successful.

The only choices debated were Kitt and the General Lee? What about Starsky and Hutch's car?

And out of idle curiosity, since the darn song has been running through my head for about 2 weeks now, how does one go about getting in trouble with the law on the day they are born?

The Coyote from Hardcastle & McCormick was the better car, though if KITT had actually existed he would have been cooler.

The real question -- Bonnie or April?

For the original topic, I enjoyed the series, but apparently it suffered from its main character being named Hinckley. They tried to shift him to being called "Mr. H" after a particular political incident, but the show just kinda crashed. The other show I liked around that time also centered around some people who were given unusual abilities (an object which allowed them, anyway), but lost (twice, again) the owner's manual. Anyone know the show I mean?

And the other show with a car was Automan, but that one was just silly. And very short-lived.

Here you go...

Just the good ol' boys
Never meanin' no harm
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born

Staightnin' the curves
Flatnin' the hills
Someday the mountain might get 'em
But the law never will

Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow

Just them good ol' boys
Wouldn't change if they could
Fightin' the system
Like a true modern day Robin Hood

Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow

I'm a good ol' boy
You know my momma loves me
But she don't understand
They keep a showin' my hands
And not my face on TV
Hah hah

Believe it or not
George isn't at home.
Please leave a message at the beep

I must be out,
or I'd pick up the phone.
Where could I be? (shrug shoulders and look around)
Believe it or not I'm not home

The greatest show ever.

Oh, and Greatest American Hero was relatively good. As a kid I loved it. And the Dukes of Hazzard. (But not the Coy and Vance episodes.)

Automan. Ha. I seem to remember Laura Branigan (Gloria!) doing a guest appearance on that show. And that Asterisk that was some sort of Cursor, right? It became the car and was his interface to the computer's "powers".

Remember all the "vehicle shows"?

Knight Rider
Airwolf
StreetHawk
Dukes of Hazzard

I know I'm missing some.

Ian

Elizabeth: It's just a passing phrase. He don't talk anything bad about the show. He just mentions it because another caracter makes fun of him (because he's white and trying to become a rapper) telling him to try a role in "Leave it to Beaver".

Eduardo,
I was actually referring to the naughty connotation of "beaver." I thought that was where Eminem might take it. So to speak.

Both these places have at least a few episodes of GAH on DVD:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dragonslair1/dvd_list.htm

Personally, I wish the Powers the Be would release "The Tick" (cartoon, not the execrable live-action version) and "Alien Nation" (TV series). I miss those shows...

Depends-- there was a semi-truck called 'Goliath--' it smashed KITT up after Michael drove it through a car wash that had been rigged to emit a special chemical to strip off KITT's armor. . .

Man, did I really like this show??

No, not Goliath...there was a car just like Kitt, but with a yellow light instead a red one. It thought that he was the best, for being the one first-created, but had a lot of character flaws.

Kitt had to find confidence in himself (itself?) in other to defeat it's elder and evil (brother?) predecessor.

Yeah...how could I like it?
But it was fun! I remember my mother bought me a remote-controll car just like Kitt! I would pretend I was Michael Knight!

(such a geek since an early age...)

Oh, and a guy who lived a few blocks away when I was a kid had one of the cars used on this show. Red light in the front, all the lights on the dash, the whole nine yards. How cool is that?

Speaking of which, does anyone remember a tv show about a guy who dies but is given a chance to come back with the catch that he has to save a certain number of people?
