In 2000, the Supreme Court had to decide the election. In 2004, it was an NFL referee.
quote:Since 1936 -- when the franchise moved from Boston to Washington -- whenever the Redskins lost their home game preceding the election, the incumbent party also lost.
The Redskins (2-4), who snapped their skid with a victory two weeks ago, will face the Green Bay Packers (3-4) at FedEx Field on Halloween. According to the streak, a Packers loss ensures that George Bush stays in office for a second term, but a Redskins loss means that John Kerry, the Democratic nominee, becomes the next president.
quote:The Redskins, with a late touchdown that might have given them the lead called back because of a motion penalty, lose to the Packers, 28-14.
The apparent Washington touchdown -- a 43-yard pass from Mark Brunell to Clinton Portis -- was called back by a penalty on the Redskins for illegal motion. Given a successful PAT, would have given the Redskins a 21-20 lead with 2:43 left.
Kerry apparently will win thanks to that one call. And they say one person can't make a difference...

Well, this should be interesting. Kerry as Commander in Cheif. Yep, in a week, the French will be sending their soliders over to Iraq. A UN coalalition will take over, and we'll be scot-free!

Especially because I care a whole lot more about DC United than the Skins, and they're doing just fine.
