I was bored at work here today and thought it would be nice to have some new websites to look at. Figured I'd post a couple of my favorites, Ya'll could too, and we'd have plenty of new good sites to occupy us during slow times at work.

http://www.skepdic.com
This is a site that goes through all sorts of pseudoscience and debunks it scientifically. Fun reading, good reference.

www.globalsecurity.org
Tons of information about armies from around the world, great satellite photos. They consider themsevels a thinktank I believe, and its got some good analysis when important world events occur. Not really useful per se, but definately worth a look every now and then.

Every time I see it, I am awash with nostalgia. There is nothing quite like the conspicuous velcro rip of a trapper keeper. [Smile]

haha, I actually was alluding to the episode of SouthPark where a "Dawsons Creek TrapperKeeper 2000" Assimilates everything in its path and almost takes over the world by assimilating the military super computers at Cheyenne Mountain.

Luckily for the residents of Southpark, an android from the future who went by the name Bill Cosby warned then and averted disaster.

But youre right, the velcro sound rocks!

Ah. I got separated from cable (not by choice) a few years ago and lost track of South Park. Sounds like a fun episode.

You might also check out the Federation of American Scientists , Global Security's competitor (GS's founder actually broke away from FAS, origianally...). The FAS website is definitely cooler and much easier to navigate...I really like the chain of command for the U.S. military (left menu, top link).

I propose an experiment. I am really digging del.icio.us , and I want to use it with our Hatrack links. I am really digging all the links people on hatrack have shared over time, and I don't want to forget them.

I have created an account called "hatrack." The website is http://del.icio.us/hatrack .

I propose to add every link I can find that has been shared on Hatrack. I have pladgiarized your discription of these first two links.

Does anyone know where any links are that should be added to the hatrack repository of links? I can share the password with all of Hatrack if we can agree on a community standard.

I am just sick of forgetting all the links I read on Hatrack. I think this is a good idea.

thoughts?

Thats a great idea Lem!

Yeah, feel free to use those descriptions. They are close enough to the truth I think.

as long as youre at it, I'll add a couple more.

www.ceoexpress.com
A website for busy executives. It is basically links for news, investing, relaxation etcetera. They are clearly marked by catagory.

www.theonion.com
Hilarious fake weekly newspaper. Slightly edgy at times, but overall fairly clean.

This one is simply amazing. You type a name, and it shows you how popular that name was throughout the century. Visually stunning. Its interesting to see how society has effected what we name our children. Try Shirely for instance, and it peaks around the time Shirely temple came out. Names like Gay or Dick drop off the list in 1970.

Well, the "Interesting Space Related News" thread has a lot of links. I've posted a lot of links to science stories, so if you want to bother archiving those you could do a search for threads started by me.

TrapperKeeper,

I like those other three links, but what I am trying to accomplish is a repository (ever since the HGTTG trailer, I have been wanting to use that word) of links that have been shared on Hatrack in relation to specific threads.

I would really like it if people set up their personal del.icio accounts. I think it would be a great way for us to peak into eachother's interests.

Mine is at http://del.icio.us/leemmeel . I have started a thread encouraging Hatrackers to start their own accounts here.
