Ok, let's do it this way.
First we race to get a list of 10 favorite Beatles songs. One song per person, until we have 10 songs (don't worry, you're not completely left out yet if yours didn't make it in, see below)
Then we'll use Frisco's system of + and -, except that we get 5 +'s and 5 -'s each. So we get to rate all 10 songs.
Also, only vote once per day.
For example, using Frisco's choices, I would post:

As with Frisco's system, each song starts with 10 points, but once a song reaches 0, it's eliminated.
BUT once a song is eliminated, we have a new race to nominate the next song, so the game continues, and it's not just limited to 10 songs out of the whole Beatles catalog. Just 10 songs at any given time.

Oh, that's a good way to do it! Much less work for me. Also, it makes the voting process a copy/paste, so it's less work for everyone else.
But I imagine that we'll have to consolidate from time to time. I guess as soon as one song has 10 minuses, and a new song is nominated. Unless the line gets gets too long. (I suppose it might also be a problem for posts that come too close together, but we'll see)

Ok, it's shameless self promotion, but I thought this would attract more attention.
Part of why I set it up that everybody got to vote on all ten songs was that I figured that songs would get eliminated faster and the thread would be more exciting, but it's just sitting there like a lump.

Glenn, what if you assigned a (1) or a (10) to those entries with 10 + votes? Any entry with 10 - votes will disappear. Your list would look something like this:

Make your nomination and add it to the list. Once you've made your nomination and added it to the existing list you can then vote. You get 5 + (I like this selection) votes and 5 - (I'm not as thrilled with this selection) votes. Of course, presently we will only have 9 to vote on (counting your nomination). I suppose you could nominate 2 although Glenn hasn't fleshed out those rules yet.
I'd suggest that you can only nominate prior to voting and you can only vote once a day. We'll have to get a ruling. Glenn!!

Yes, that sounds right to me. I specified that you only get one vote per day, but separating the nomination from the vote makes sense, since your nomination might be beat by someone else.
But you dropped Tomorrow Never Knows off the list when you edited the +'s and -'s. It took me a minute to see where the (10) went, but I see it now. Umm, the pluses should cancel the minuses, so Tommorrow Never Knows had 10 minuses and 3 pluses, for a total of 7 minuses, it hasn't been eliminated yet. And that's how I'll edit the list to make it shorter, see below. (I left Brinestone's votes, instead of cancelling them.)
Crap, "For You Blue" and "And Your Bird Can Sing" each had 10 minuses and 1 plus, so I shouldn't have eliminated them yet. Well, I'm not going back, since "A day in the life," "Come together," and "Help" are now on the list.

So for those that haven't figured it out, I worked out how to keep track of the votes without letting them become long strings.
Each day before I make my vote, I simply cancel pairs of +'s and -'s, so that only one kind is left. If we get to 10 -'s, that song is eliminated. It doesn't change the rules, and it works pretty well.
Remember, to vote, copy and paste the list, and add your votes (5 + and 5 -). It may seem complicated, but it's actually pretty simple. One vote per day.
