I'm sorry; this isn't going to be as intriguing and provocative a post as the title promises. I just need a good, frame-worthy, smallish version of Dore's Naomi and her Daughters-in-Law. And nobody seems to be selling one. Of any size. Instead, for some odd reason, everyone is hawking his illustrations of Don Quixote. I suppose I could argue that this is a good example of modern capitalism privileging Renaissance secular humanism over the Bible. But that'd be kind of sketchy and strained, so I won't.

Rather, I'll just go ahead and ask if anyone has any idea where I could find such a thing. It's not copyrighted anymore, but the online versions I've been able to find via google aren't that great. I'd rather not pay for the entire Dore Illustrated Bible just to scan it, either. Maybe there's some funky image manipulation possible with the web versions that I don't know about. This is not unlikely. Ideas?

This is a great book to add to your collection:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29223&item=6543505542&rd=1

Otherwise:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1447&item=6184180147&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

Both auctions claim to be offering period prints.

It would be a fantastic book for my collection, were I not a dirt poor student. I'll be satisfied with the three-for-one deal in that first auction.

Funny. I couldn't find anything on ebay last night when I posted this. I must have been only semi-functioning.

Thanks, Tom.
