It will be. It'll be a change from magic and nightmarish creatures.

Instead there'll be science... and... well, nightmarish creatures.

Submit an outline in the thread on sakeriver. I'm looking primarily for people that can do narrative. Make it an engaging story, include where the character came from, their specialties, their fears, anything--in short a character outline.

The rules are the open source D20 Future rules, a suppliment to D20 Modern, which can be found here:

Open Source Rules

You will find the rules pretty easy. They'll give you ideas for characters, skills, feats, etc. that will help the outline.

Some people think that the funnest part is creating the character. [Big Grin]

I may be interested in trying it out. The only RPing that I've done so far is in person D&D, though that was more combat oriented than role-playing oriented. I guess I'll go check out the sakeriver thread for more info.

Edit: What system are you using for generating stats? Point buy? Dice rolls? I'd assume it is a point buy system. How many points?

Edit again: What size is the ship going to be? Like, are we talking a crew of 5 or a crew of 40?

As long as I can have until tomorrow evening to do it, no problems. I gotta work most of tomorrow, and I gotta sleep tonight...I've already gotten a basic idea, though.

It sounds interesting, but how time consuming is it?

Mr. Funny, I haven't decided on points yet (but it will be a point buy system). It will be a large ship, but probably a crew of about ten. I'll need to use NPC's to kill off--er, I mean flesh out the crew. I'm not sure yet how many players there will be, but I imagine six or seven.

Lyrhawn, it depends on how into D20 you get. One game, once underway, would merely be a matter of checking the forum daily, finding out what was going on, then typing up instructions for a turn. I will pace the game to the group.

To give you an idea, when I'm back to full time employment, I won't have time to hang around all day myself. I'll get home, check things out, make any die rolls, then write up a turn. It will be much more time consuming for me than a player. Often in PBEM (Play By E-Mail) campaigns, the players wind up chomping at the bit while the DM finishes the turn, or we have to wait for a key player's decsion. People have lives, after all.

The goal is a turn a day. Stopping for weekends. Pretty much forum hanging-out. And while you wait online, you'll probably be checking your other forums, and other stuff.

Hope that helps.

If this were real, and not a game, I'd be so right there signing up!

He, he.

I don't know if I'd go there in real-life. I tend to be cautious and don't really like risking injury or worse. It's easy to make a character and wade in guns blasting, but to actually do it myself would be another situation entirely.

But I'd play this campaign if I ran across it. [Wink]

I've submitted my pilot character via email.

Redundant posting on multiple forums is fun!

The following is a cross-forum post to facilitate information to the Jatraquero Public. This is a public service provided by
the Cross-Forum Information Administration (CFIA) and the Universal Fluff Organization (UFO).

Further information may be found at: sakeriver forum.

Thank you.

Wow. This was an agonizing choice, as you may have guessed. To narrow the selection to 10 characters out of so many great stories, I chose the following characters for the contribution they can make to the plot and, especially, the game as I have envisioned it.

I hope you'll all follow the campaign, and, for those who did not get placed, I will keep your characters in mind, should an opening occur.

Here are our participants:

Tom Davidson, James Holden, Commander
Slash the Berserker, Kyle Bester, Security/First Officer
The Twinkster, Lane, Pilot
Bob the Lawyer, Preston, Engineer
Bok, Kong Manou, Navigator/Sensor Officer
Mr. Portiero Head, Nagata Naomi, Mecha Operator (Specialist)
Saxon75, Amos Burton, Hand/Mecha Operator
Scott R, January Karl, Hand/Tech
Mr. Funny, Zack Kazanski, Hand
Msquared, Griff, Hand

Further News to follow.
