Hi all, My sister is doing a cognitive science project at the moment and needs your help. She is modelling how ambiguous words/phrases are processed (I think). Anyway, she needs people to come up with sentences using the following words:
Seal (the animal) Seal (as in a wax seal, or seal of approval) Glasses (spectacles) Glasses (that you drink out of).
The sentences are supposed to be the first thing that comes to mind, but more than 7 words long. Please post your sentences here, and I'll email her the link to the thread so she can see how wonderful jatraqueros are.
I'm sorry if that isn't hugely clear - please ask for clarification if you need, and I'll be happy to provide.
Thanks Amira (and her sister, Taz)

We all know we shouldn't club the baby seals. I've never gotten to use sealing wax before. I started wearing glasses when I was 10. I should buy a new set of drinking glasses.

Were I a seal, I do think I'd give the otters a run for their money.
The notice of foreclosure had survived coffee spillage, being set on fire, spindling, and dismemberment, all with its official seal still intact.
She allowed her glasses to slide partway down her nose as she gave me one of those lewd, lascivious librarian looks.
He cried out at the thought of all the glasses being etched into submission by the tempermental dishwasher.

The seal is basking and barking on the rocks. The seal on this envelope is broken; who opened it? Emma, I need you to give me back my glasses right now! Oh, good job putting the glasses back, sweetheart!
(Can you tell that I spend all my time with an almost-two-year-old?)

(Obviously Tante needs to spend more time in CA, judging by her second sentence she's not sufficiently used to toilet seat covers!)

Seals are lumpy animals. She sealed the letter and sent it to her friend. I don't often have to where my glasses. The glasses we used to have were unbreakable.

"I sure do enjoy clubbing seals", I said. I would give this my seal of approval. Fortunately, contact lenses have eliminated my need for glasses. I was drinking from a coffee mug because we had no wine glasses.
First thing to come to mind and more than seven words are mutually exclusive to me apparently. I had to inflate all of them.

A seal was clubbed. The king broke the seal. I wear glasses, but not willingly. The cupboard was full of glasses.

Seal (the animal): J'achete un phoque. (A phrase we used to say in French class because it sounds like English curse words but isn't. It means "I'm buying a seal.") Seal (as in a wax seal, or seal of approval): Was that Seal CD you just bought sealed? Glasses (spectacles): Horseplay in the hallway will get your glasses broken. Glasses (that you drink out of): My dishwasher never fully cleans the glasses.

Seal the dog (a misinterpretation of the instructions but thought it would be interesting to include)
Seals are my friends. The official seal bore the image of a falcon. See-thru glasses are a bit redundant don't you think? Dropped the glasswares on the floor.

Her eyes mischievously twinkled with a tacit seal of approval as he let out yet another series of explosive eructations.
The large black, thick, coke-bottle-bottom glasses that defined her stifled style were the bars on the windows of her soul.
The bartender's thoughts drifted into cloud covered daydreams while he lazily wiped and stacked the empty glasses from the night before.

Whenever I went to the zoo, the seal was always hiding.
The presenter had a difficult time opening the seal on the envelope and we all laughed.
Everyone else in my family wears glasses, but I think my mother ate fish on the right day when she was pregnant with me. (This is true)
I'm amassing a collection of empty glasses in my room because I don't like to do dishes. (Was true until ten minutes ago)

Have you ever noticed that seals have distinctive barks? He broke the envelope's seal and pulled out the letter. Thanks to the contacts I have these days, I rarely wear my glasses. My dishwasher sometimes leaves spots on my glasses.

The cutest stuffed animal I have is a seal named Seal. You know that cake mix it good since it carries the good housekeeping seal. It's hard to lose your glasses when you can't walk one step without them. The glasses came out of the dishwasher all spotty.

What a wonderfully black and rubbery seal. I seal this agreement with my bazooka. I sat on my glasses and broke them. Ew, there is lipstick on the glasses.

I saw a seal sailing on the sea. Did you seal that letter with a kiss? My glasses are as thick as coke bottles. Let's touch our glasses and toast the happy couple.

There were some cute seals at Sea World, but the kids were more interested in getting a chance to look at the killer whales.
Seal (as in a wax seal, or seal of approval) When I bought a ten gallon fish tank, the first thing I had to do was fill it with water, to see if the seal was okay.
Glasses (spectacles)
They dilated my friend's pupils at the eye-doctors the other day, so she was half-blind when she was picking out the frames for her new glasses.
Glasses (that you drink out of).
My glasses would be a lot cleaner if I could have a dishwasher at college.

I couldn't find my glasses this morning; for some reason, I'd left them in the cabinet where the glasses are.

1. Its unethical to wear coats made from baby seal fur.
2. The time has come, the walrus said to talk of many things, of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings, of why the sea is boilng hot and whether pigs have wings.
(I know that's not original but it is the first thing that came to mind when you mentioned sealing wax).
3. Where did I put my reading glasses?
4. Will you put the glasses on the table, dear?
