Hi all.
Just checking in from the Dallas/Ft.Worth airport on our way to Sacramento. ScottR kept me company on the plane. (I read his short story in the Writers of the Future anthology. It was great!)

So, use this thread to rave about ScottR, or to gripe about crappy airport kiosk keyboards. [Smile]

How long are you in Dallas? I'm really close to the airport and have an evening available to kill...

Edit: Just realized you probably have no clue who I am. But if you're up for meeting a random hatracker- well two actually, Rico said he was coming over to my place soon, and you have the time... [Smile]

This sort of reminds me of in Snow Crash when people use "crappy public terminals" to jack into the Megaverse [Smile]

Now we're in Sacramento. Heading to Napa tomorrow for the week. Internet access spotty, so if you're in the area just keep an eye out for a blue Ford Escort with two lost looking guys in it. [Wink]

Okay...now the rule at wine tastings is no more than 6 oz in an hour, not on an empty stomach, and if you have any more than that, don't drive!!!

[Big Grin]

Enjoy! I love Sacramento, actually. Napa is very pretty too.

Where else are you going?

Cool Karl, you're pretty close to me...I'm about 45 minutes south of Reno (which is about 100 miles east of Sacramento). I know tonight in Reno there's some sort of wine tasting evening with food and music and stuff from like 5-11 or something. I think admission was $45. I don't drink, but just thought I'd give you a heads up of what's sort of in your area. BTW, the Napa area is beautiful country.

Thanks for the tips. I hope we get time to do some tasting somewhere. This is mostly a family visit. Chris's mom is in the hospital and likely will go to a long-term care facility afterward, so we're going to be spending most of the trip helping his brother and visiting his mom. My sister lives in Sacramento, so we're splitting the trip.

I just got back from doing some b-day shopping wiht my neice and nephew. Their b-days are in June, but I won't be here then, of course. [Smile]

If anyone is free during a weekday or weekday night in San Francisco, we're going to visit there at least one day sometime this week. So much of this trip is playing by ear, it's hard to make concrete plans.
