Before you scream Dobie, I just want to say that when I read the title of the other thread I assumed it would be about songs that you feel represent you.
So i present to you that thread now.
I have to say that I'm So Rad by Nobody Famous sums me up nicely.

IMO this is definitely a thread thatīs worth pursuing, letīs hope some of the other folks will join as well, even though thereīs already a lot of threads concerning music...
Also, perhaps it would be wise to suggest to posters to just name the ONE song that represents them best.
mineīs "Traveller in Time" by the legendary Uriah Heep.

When I was younger, I used to go for Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again (Naturally)". I was emo before emo existed, I guess.
Now? Probably Mellancamp's "Jack & Diane". "Oh yeah, life goes on / Long after the thrill of living is gone."

starLisa: do you perhaps know the song "You Were Right" by Built To Spill. It has loads of references to famous rock songs and one of the quotes is the one you just mentioned.

Initial gut reaction, Billy Joel's "You May Be Right". But I'm the type that hears a song and decides it's totally me... five minutes after picking another song that's totally me.

Never heard it. I just looked up the lyrics, though, and you're right.

I just adore Harry Connick's arrangement of The Other Hours. It sums me up quite nicely when I'm feeling misunderstood. I can't post the lyrics here, but it's one of the best arrangements on his Only You album.

Floyd's - Comtortably Numb -- it's anoying but I really don't react to much anymore? Oh well the aftermath of a misspent youth?

Steely Dan "What a shame about Me" A guy feels his life went nowhere and lately I feel that way, I know it's not true, but how you feel is how you feel, ya know?

In Flames' "The Quiet Place" is awesome. But the dudes are Swedish and their lyrics are so confusingly poetic I sometimes wonder about their English.

Ben, I don't have an answer to your question right now; I'll have to think on it. But I thought I'd tell you that Ketchup Princess likes your song; she's dancing all over.
(In her blue Elmo t-shirt, lime-green shorts, lacy socks, and fuzzy snow boots, which somehow seems to fit.)
(She's kind of doing the Robot now, sort of, which no one taught her, she just seems to know how to do.)

That's the story of my last 10 years of my life- and considering I'm only 18- it pretty much well defines me. (At this point).

I love that song. Actually, I was hearing this wonderful song on the radio, and it turns out it was off of his newest album. It was great!

As much as I dislike picking one song out of my list of favorites, I think I've got a clear winner on this question.
Lifehouse - Hanging by a Moment
quote: Desperate for changing Starving for truth I'm closer to where I started Chasing after you I'm falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I've held onto I'm standing here until you make me move I'm hanging by a moment here with you

B34N: That's one of the songs that rate very high on my list as well. But I've since learned to interpret 'comfortably numb' as unattainable. You too, at least, seem to worry about the lack of emotional response you show to the things you experience. So are you really that comfortable?

For most of my life, up until about 3 or 4 years ago, I would say that "Creep" by Radiohead pretty much summed me up. But then, that song pretty much epitomized teen angst for my entire generation, so I don't think I'm alone in that one.
These days I think it would have to be "Stinky Green" by Keller Williams. You can listen to it free and legal here. If you like folky funky guitar jams, you should check it out.

"Let's Give 'Em Something to Talk About" pretty much characterized my courtship and marriage ... I'd known hubby for 12 years before we ever dated, and we hung out together as friends all the time, so people were talking about us even though we weren't dating. Sooner or later I became curious about what it would be like to do what everyone was talking about ... and the rest is history.

Rilo Kiley, "A Better Son/Daughter" Tegan and Sara, "So Jealous" Die toten Hosen "Steh auf (wenn du am Boden bist)"
For a few years it was Matthew Good Band, "Strange Days." And Guster's "Two Points for Honesty." And in my supermelodramatic moments it was "The River Song" by Wide Mouth Mason. K's Choice's "Iron Flower" deals with a theme I used to write about a lot (the difficulty/insufficiency of conversation/language).

To all those mormons out there: Were you ever the ones to jump up and shout out "Sunbeam!" real loud during the song?
