How far north in NSW? Tell us about it when you're back...I'm considering a trip somewhere the area north of Cairns maybe, latter this year. Are you going to be that far north? Enjoy. Watch out for the spiders.

Some other cool camping tips to consider:

If you're hiking at higher altitudes than you are used to, take rhodiola rosea.

Always have candles in your car, preferably in metal cans. The heat generated from candle flame can keep you warm without the need to run the engine, and so it's a great idea for backcountry driving or anything with a chance of trappage.

Spare cellphone batteries are nice.

You can live off of clif bars, but hot food is oh so nice to have. Tiny propane stoves and portable cookwear is worth its weight in gold. Freeze dried cookery is the most weight efficient, but if it's not too much of a walk, I usually just bring servings of hormel chili and other foods that cook well on the open terrain.

etc etc
