So, I have never read these. I know they are YA books, but how appealing are they to adults? Is it worth my time to read them? I enjoyed the Harry Potter series. Do these compare at all?

They are better than HP, and yes they appeal also to adults, and yes, you should definitely read them.

I've never read this book, but do you suppose Robert Jordan took the title of The Shadow Rising from it?

Also, John Benjamin Hickey (Freedom Writers, Flags of Our Fathers) as Professor Stanton?! I don't remember Will's dad (presumably) being a Professor. Wasn't he a jeweller?
