It has been a good fight, it was a long one, a struggle indeed. Went through and past many obstacles along the way, and lost many good friends and comrades. We will always remember their sacrifice, it has been a long road coming here. It was worth it.
At 6:55 PM Sunday October 14th, I have Finished the fight.

I finished Half-Life in 21 straight hours, and I've seen Half-Life 2 finished in four hours, so there's a lot of room in between there.

No, Blayne. If you put that kind of dedication into more important matters, like finding a job and a place to live, you would suddenly become more mature.

Fanaticism is almost never a sign of maturity. The ability to manage your time and not spend the majority of your waking hours escaping reality is more mature, though. Still not mature, but a positive step.
Hey, I know plenty of guys who are addicted to video games. But they all have real jobs or are full-time students (on top of being well-adjusted socially, though I recognize that makes them a little unusual) who do not live at home.
It's fine to have hobbies, but you have obsessions, Blayne.

I applied to work at futureshop but many f you are forgetting that I don't have a car, so I can't go around finding places to live, I can't go downtown to find places to work because those would be 4 hour round trips, and I generally have classes during the day so I cant go find jobs then, the best I can do is apply for student loans right now and apply for jobs at computer and electronic related stores online.

Can you apply for a loan that would suffice for your tuition, housing, and transportation? My brother made it through college that way, although of course paying such a loan back has been difficult for him.

Do you take classes during the weekend? It sounds to me like you have been and are planning to play video games all weekend.
edit: Blayne, those numbers don't add up. I'm pretty sure that, with the recent conversion issues, Canadian hours are pretty much on par with American ones, in which case, there are only 168 a week.

I was planning on finishing (and succeded) playing Halo 3, lacking the communicator I did not do any multilayer play, so I worked saturday and played on sunday.
There are some plans once Joe's xbox arrives in the mail to do a 3 way co-op on

You know, I was a full time student at what is considered a pretty tough school and where I dual degreed and was in the honors program, and I never had 10 hours of class a day. Are you maybe not using hours as your unit of measurement there?

I think you've got it wrong. The n00bs are working on unascended n00b-time. Ascended Gamers, though...man, they're lucky. Time goes slower for them. Chemicals affect their bodies differently, too!
I mean, a n00b would have difficulty functioning normally after mainlining caffeine in the form of a 6pk of Redbull, but for an Ascended Gamer? No problem. They can down all that Redbull and then go to bed at a reasonable hour, and then wake up normally as well and go to work.

Blayne, if you're actually spending 13 hours a day on your classwork, bully for you. But I smell a rat.

by those 10 hours it is the time spent at Abbott, classes start usually at 8:30 and end usually at 5:30... ok so 9 hours, where did I get 10 from???
but 3-4 hours of homework once im home does make sense, some weeks its less some its more.

So you are at school from 8:30 to 5:30 all seven days of the week and do all of your 21 to 28 hours of homework outside of that time?

Blayne, If you are school from 8:30 to 5:30 and you are looking for a job, what is preventing you from doing your homework in the down time between classes and getting a job on or near campus?
edit: I'm pretty sure that Blayne doesn't go to school 7 days a week. Let's say that was a mistake. He should have put 5s in the place of 7s.

Do they not have any on-campus jobs you could look into? Those don't pay well, but they're typically very accommodating of your schedule (i.e., you could work during breaks between classes).
And if you're at school for 9 hours a day you're taking way more credits than is allowed an any accredited institute I'm aware of. Or you have some serious breaks during the day you're not taking advantage of.

One thing you need to take into account is that when you are looking for a job after graduation, companies are going to want you to have work experience and references. You are already at a disadvantage because it sounds like you haven't worked any programming jobs. Getting and keeping a job now isn't just a matter of getting paid, but also of making yourself more attractive to potential employers.
