Elrond is over 6400 years old at the time of "Lord of the Rings", having been born in the late First Age -- and living through the entirety of the Second and Third Ages.
Galadriel (his mother-in-law) is even older, older than the entirety of the human race.
Older yet is Cirdan, who was already being busy long before Galadriel's *grandparents* (Finwe and Indis) had gotten together.

Dan- couldn't you recapitulate your story about your son sometime? I remember it from years ago, but I'd be interested to see how things have gone.

If by working I mean, yeah, I've got to dig that stuff up and update it, but I've know this web-site that's willing to sell it for me if I can, so maybe--yeah, I'll start on that sometime before the end of the decade, hopefully.
