I started to write a post about it three times, but I really have no idea what to think. As such, I appeal to the collective wisdom of Hatrack to tell me what to think.

Overall I liked it. I do think the pilot should have had an en medias res start. They spent too much time trying to introduce the characters and their relationships. They should have slowly revealed that stuff over the first few episodes.

Watched the first three episodes tonight over at my brothers.
It's okay...
I like West Wing considerably better I think because it was funnier and he simply spent more time on the characters and less time on the message. This is much more about the message.
I think this is Sorkin's way of starting his own news show without actually starting a news show while taking swipes at the media. It's no wonder it's gotten such negative reviews; no one likes to be told they're doing their jobs wrong. I think making him a sort of closeted Republican is a cop-out. It's their way of saying "but wait! He's a Republican, he can't be a left-wing hatchet man!"
I'm interested to see how it progress and how they cover things as they move on. In the first three episodes they've already covered like eight months of 2010, so things are moving along pretty quickly if the goal is to hit the hot spots and then move up to today to provide current social commentary.
I wish they'd gone back to do the health care debate, they could have gotten some good hits in on Democrats instead of deciding the only era of news worth correcting was after the GOP went nuts.
