Have you played Aliens: Colonial Marines already? I thought it looked cool, but it's been getting absolutely absymal critical reviews. I'd be interested to hear what your experience has been.

Hi aros, this is a nice thread about video game's. I need for it not to be involving with your trying too hard to be "Roll with the Punche's" notorious persona's.

Do you find you can actually play the guitar on your own after playing Rocksmith?

I'm on a Baldur's Gate 2 kick right now. I haven't seen a good party based, DnD style game in forever.

I am finally playing through Dead Space 2 right now and I am in love with how gruesome and unforgiving this game is. Outside of particular minigames (rocketing through open space, maneuvering through space station debris with their own momentum) I have only died twice, the cinematics for both were so creepy that I do whatever I can to not die again. Not many games inspire such fear of death.
I can't wait to play Dead Space 3.

I notice you didn't include Mass Effect 3... .
I don't think there's another series that comes close to topping that one for me. KotOR (the first one) was a similarly enjoyable gaming experience.
I'm in the midst of Skyrim and Borderlands 2 at the moment, with a little bit of Bastion (I know, I'm late to the party) on the side.

Yes. I'd say the learning curve is much faster than a traditional teacher. Since it's adaptive, it throws stuff at you in a way that keeps you moving, keeps you challenged. You're not just repeating a single song over and over -- you're constantly adapting, trying to find notes, use techniques, and play new songs.
Most of my guitar friends are amazed by my progress.

I have become a newly-minted Fire Emblem fan with the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening. I have not been this hooked on a game since Minecraft.

Kingdom of Loathing Realm of the Mad God and my most recent time killer--Jigidi--jigsaw puzzles.
All of them fit in my budget--being Free to Play. All of them gore free--though KoL is not quite "Family Friendly"

Realm of the Mad God is addictive, partly due to the fact that there is no respawn. When you die, your character is just plain dead. You have to make and level a new one. Every. Single. Time.

I think I used to have that exact keyboard.
**** Gearbox.
Started Chrono Cross. Great music and art, but man, early 3D models age like crap. (while early 2d sprites always look appealing to me).

I'm playing Skyrim again for lack of things to do.
I recently played Ni No Kuni on the PS3. I drained about 80 hours into it. The game was remarkable and truly a masterpiece JRPG experience. I loved it.

Can't say I ever played Blue Dragon. The art style reminded me way too much of Dragonball Z. How's the story in that game?

The art style should remind you of Dragonball Z, it's the same artist. The story is pretty standard JRPG faire. The cinematics are beautifully rendered, the music is memorable, it's difficult, and it kept my attention well enough that I actually beat it. A feat many Final Fantasy games have been unable to accomplish.

I don't know why Final Fantasy has gone so tame with its battle themes, but they need to find composers who make the painful torment of JRPG leveling just a little bit, dare I say, enjoyable?
edit: Cave is just fantastic setting music.

I think a lot of modern game-composers still create a great synergy and relationship between the music and what I'm doing on screen; but less of them, in my opinion, are playlist-worthy. The modern Persona soundtracks are fantastic in game, but **** them in a playlist. I think some of the best music right now is coming from the indie scene actually, and from the general resurgence of puzzle games.

It gets you to whatever level you want. I honestly believe it could get you to the level where you could play in a band within a year, given enough dedication.

Just beat Metal Gear Rising. It's really fun to parry all the crazy stuff that enemies throw at you, and the four bosses at the end of the game are outstanding. The last boss of the game is a freaking douchebag.
It also leaves you in the dark about a lot of nuances. They aren't complicated at all, but you have to freestyle it a bit to realize that the other stuff that's there.
The free run is a little dumb. I hated the left-stick quick-time-event that you had to do when stunned. Some of the locations are too grey. There's fights you're supposed to lose (laaame). Still though, it's pretty fun.
