This is the first quarter I've entered. How many honorable mentions are there usually? And how does that compare to the number of usual entries?

I never counted of HMs and the number of entries is private information from what I understand. They seem to keep that pretty close to the chest. Certainly it's in the thousands, I've heard estimates of 2 to 3 thousand per quarter, but who knows.
I think usuallly a couple of hundred HMs, but you could check the blog for the last quarter to get a better idea.
