I've not been around much lately, for reasons many of you know. I may not be around for a while longer now. It's not been a year since my daughter passed away and this morning my wife Alison died suddenly. We're not sure of the cause yet. I found her on the stairs, but by the time paramedics attended she had stopped breathing and the could do nothing for her, though they tried all the same.

So, if I'm not around, you all know why, and if I am and I'm not my usual self, then you all know why. I've a feeling it might be a while before I put pen to paper again.

I am so very sorry for your losses, pd.
Words cannot express my feelings at your sad and shocking news nor, I'm aware, can any I choose at this moment offer sufficient consolation.

I can only share I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and wish you strength of heart and mind and spirit.

May their beloved memories be with you forever and inspire you to acts of loving-kindness--for yourself as well as for other.

Baruch dayan emet.

Please consider keeping in touch with your Hatrack family.

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

Oh, no! How awful for you!

Please accept my condolences, and know we are here for you, even if you don't feel like writing, pdblake.

I don't have words, and I won't pretend I do. But I have prayer, and I am sending it your way.

Yikes!!

Man that had to hit hard. My condolences too. A lot of things could be said but I think I will just say I'll pray for peace and comfort for you even though it's hard right now.

Oh no! Oh man, I can't even imagine. I echo the sentiment that we're here for you, and as I said when you had that last bit of terrible news, my email is always open to you. Hold on. Something good has to come your way.

Pd, I'm sorry. I pray you have friends who will come and sit in the ashes with you. If there's anything I can do, email me.

I listened to "Beauty Will Rise" by Stephen Curtis Chapman when we lost our son, it helped a lot. Don't know if it would help when you lose a wife too, but thought I'd mention it.

Thanks all for your thoughts. I have had word from the coroner and the verdict was that it was deep vein thrombosis which led to a blood clot on the lung and ultimately a massive pulmonary embolism.

Somehow it's not hit as hard as when we lost Jess, but then losing a child is something you can never imagine. There are no questions here, whereas with Jess there are so many that will never be answered.

In practical terms it's difficult, as I still have other children to think about and will need to juggle work around, but they've been good and we'll get by. There are difficult things like insurance to sort out too. I might not get much writing done for a long while, any time I get is spent on my allotment seeking some peace and solace amongst the vegetables.

I will be back, I'll be fine I'm sure, just not sure how long it will take.

Thanks all, again.

Hey, PD.
I wish there was something I could say, something I could do. Death makes us all feel so helpless. And empty, and friggin angry...

When you're ready, we'll be here, eager and waiting to pseudo-sniff the noxious troll fumes you cook up in that vivid imagination of yours.
