Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

Last Week's Goals

The only thing I did last week was come up with a possible story idea and to write down a couple hundred words in notes for this possible book idea. It's not much to go on yet, but it still a potential new book.

My goals for next week:

  • Something writing related

At this point I have two story ideas going through my mind. One I've been thinking on the last few weeks and the new one I thought of a couple days ago. With everything I've got going on right now it's difficult to focus on any single item, so I will be happy that I made "progress" on anything writing related for now.

What I need to learn this week

Not much this week, unfortunately. Still a bit stressful and busy at work.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL: Keep thinking about what changes I need to make to improve this story.
Still thinking. [Smile]

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS): Send out three more queries out this week.
Actually, four. [Smile]

BLOOD WILL TELL: The hard part (for me)--marketing.
Nope. [Frown]

BLOOD IS THICKER: Let it rest.
Easy one. [Smile]

MAGIC'S APPRENTICE: Nothing for this week.
Also an easy one. [Smile]

THE BARD'S GIFT: I'll keep last week's goal, again. Make it through Chapter 7.
No, but I'm well into Chapter 7. [Smile]

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

E-publish "The Music Box".

Yes to both. [Smile]

Next Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL:
Keep thinking about what changes I need to make to improve this story.

FIRE AND EARTH (formerly known as SEVEN STARS):
Send out three more queries out this week.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
The hard part (for me)--marketing. I think it's clear that, just like sending out queries and blogging (and housework) I need to set a schedule to work on this and hold to it.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Let it rest.

MAGIC'S APPRENTICE:
Nothing for this week.

THE BARD'S GIFT:
Write through Chapter 9.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Pretty much worked on one novel---Finished the Revision of Two Struggles. Last night and this morning I went back and added Boulder landmarks and more of the five human senses to certain action scenes. Now to find one or three readers.

83,900 words long at the moment.

Hmmm, I guess that's it for novels.

I did manage to take a picture of a certain structure my Angel Kin MC is about to have a fistfight on top of. Better to see it than try to recall it. And I can place a copy of the pic on my blog.

Next week goals:

Hopefully send it out to one or three people and start on the revision of my space opera. Not to mention do a new story and/or work on my two work novels. I need to do that fight scene. And one or two story revisions and five crits.

Last Week:

THE NULL PROPHET: Send a query.
No. [Frown]

UNBORN: Revise two chapters.
Yes, just barely.

NORTH: Let it rest.
Easy. [Smile]

OTHER: Read & critique 3 pieces for new writing group.
Yes. [Big Grin] I liked the group enough to put up with the drive, so I have officially joined.

Nest Week:

THE NULL PROPHET:
The holiday week is probably a bad time to actually send queries, but I want to prepare the next few–decide who to query, and have them ready.

UNBORN:
Revise three chapters.

NORTH:
Let it rest.

OTHER:
Revisit whether I want to have a blog on my website.
