Well, I suppose I'm a "newb", though I've been registered for over a year, I believe. But I stopped visiting/posting for quite a while when I went to work and left my computer behind. But now I have rediscovered Hatrack. So I look forward to not being a newb anymore (eventually).

Meanwhile, I get no love. I've actually been on AIM every once in awhile, but there's no Ralphie to be seen.

Kayla, Sorry, despite the incontrovertible evidence to the contrary I'm now providing, I've left the forum. I even had a good-bye post somewhere or other, but I think everyone missed it. Anyway, I check back from time to time and Ralphie threatened me with horrors better left unmentioned if I didn't at least try to keep in touch with her, but I don't think that I'll be posting again any time soon.

Hey, how much time expired before Squicky announced that he didn't think he'd be posting again any time soon and his next post?

PSI, just for your info, there are currently 168 pages. And to think, you nearly missed this classic on page 167!

This was an entertaining read. I nearly fell out of my chair reading MrSquicky's post on page 2.

It's because the board has since switched to Unicode. Right-click, and choose Western European under the Encoding options, and they'll be back to normal.

Maybe some stuff to be gleaned from this by our new crop of newbies? Y'all seem like an eager bunch. Hopefully we can all learn to live in harmony, trading goods and existing in an uneasy alliance until our species start to interbreed?

I quite agree, Leonide. Heck, I still read this to remind myself of some of the not-so-obvious "quirks" in Hatrack.

I have to agree with others that Squick's post is hilarious! Especially:
quote:Originally posted by MrSquicky: 1) ...Make no mistake, you will be called on to break the laws of both God and man... You will go tricycling with albino kelp farmers. You will wrestle penguins just to perserve a shred of the life you once knew...
2) You can kill an non-newbie and thus take their place. Back in the early days of the forum, this was the preferred method of advancement... However, the years of infighting have led to a darwian survival of the fittest situation... so come get some, you little punk.
I think I'd go with the third option, myself. Seeing as how I have an irrational fear of both kelp farmers and oldbie jatraqueros.
Oh, and I loved Frisco's #10:

Man, now I kind of wish I hadn't gone back and read it. It makes me sad to think some of the people I love talking to online right now might not be around in five years. I just hope the people I miss are gone because they are living the good life and don't need this forum anymore.

It's interesting reading this thread and seeing all of the formerly active posters who I've never heard of before. This forum has a rich history.

Interesting. I remember lurking on these forums back then. It took me several years to find the courage (and time) to create an account and start adding my voice. Seeing some of those old names does bring back memories, and it also makes me feel relatively young! (I know, I know, I AM relatively young)
