... does it make me gay?

Just wondering.....

By the way, Groban's CD is awesome. Beautiful, almost breathtaking music. This is what this generation needs more of.

I don't know about trading but I love crepes. You can put just about anything in a crepe and I love them. Mmmmm.

Crepes were my family's Christmas morning breakfast. Strawberries, bananas, apple sauce, cool whip, powdered sugar - all on hand to fill them. [Smile] What is your crepe recipe?

But yes, you flounced just a bit closer to gay. [Wink]

I heard they're from Belguim...

**rimshot**

I learned how to make them on my mission, and will never give them up. As far as I'm concerned, I've Americanized them. They're especially good with Nutella, which I hear is also made in Belguim.

Any Josh Groban fans?

Patrick, I've seen the music videos you like; Groban and crepes are the least of your worries.

Seriously, though, if you were you wouldn't have to ask.

Just call them palachinki (instead of crepes) - the tasty Bulgarian (one of the few supporters of the US from the get-go [Cool] ) equivalent. [Smile]

**puzzled by Nathan's 'rimshot' comment**

And I didn't 'flounce' anywhere, my dear Kate....

Caleb -- I actually listened to the Smiths on the way in to work today.... Oh boy.

-- Patrick, who is very comfortable in his sexuality, but has to get a reality check every once in a while.....

I'm listening to Groban right now on the internet.

It's... ummm... yeah.

Imagine a whole album of songs like "The Circle of Life" and "Underneath the Same Bright Star".

One of these days, Patrick, I'm gonna make you a Dream Theater fan.

Of course Trogdor isn't gay? Can you imagine Trogdor in a fabric store choosing just the right piece to accentuate the warmth of the color on his walls???

For one thing, Trogdor would burninate the entire building.

(apologies for the stereotyping, it's all in the name of humor)

Caleb --

One of these days I'm going to get you to enjoy gay music. Keep listening boy, he's got more talent in his left armpit than your 'Spock's Nose' or 'Dreamy theaters.'

And Belle, a fabric store is one place you'd never find Trogdor. And like you said, I'd burninate the place upon arrival.

Having studied opera for three years and having BEEN to Italy, I probably speak more Italian than you do.

Yes, I meant "Somewhere Out There" but couldn't think of the name... so I went with my best guess. Apparently it worked. [Smile]

And for the record 'gay music', in my mind, has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with its Michael Boltonesque quotient.

Josh Groban may have a talented armpit, but when it comes to music, my progressive artists will blow away pretty much any synthesized-part-disney-part-aria-ballad-based hack that you can think of.

I admit to a bit of dislike for Josh Groban, mostly because him and that Irish guy who "survived impossible odds and now sings really good" kept bumping Nova when PBS was doing telethon week. But he does have a nice voice. He doesn't even look that cheesy when he sings.

How old is he? I swear I remember the name and face from high school or somewhere.

He's early twenties, advice. He was 16 when he "started out"

edit: what kayla said [Big Grin]

I enjoy the Josh. I enjoyed him on Ally McBeal, and that enjoyment transferred over to his CD's. Plus he was originally going to pursue musical theatre. That's good stuff, right there.

Well, that probably means I didn't know him. He just seemed so familiar when first I saw his picture. Which wasn't too long ago. Perhaps a deja vu moment.

Edit: I must admit that they could have used higher resolution photos when they designed his site.

Hey Caleb, when was it you last sold over 300,000 copies of a record?

Oh yeah, never.

I have to admit, part of the appeal for me was the first Ally McBeal episode he appeared on. He was this incredibly geeky kid (and trust me, they did all the could to make him look geeky) and the whole show was about him suing a girl for reneging on an agreement to take him to the prom. Once Ally agreed to go with him, the major concern was if he could actually sing or not.

After 50 of watching this kid trip over his own two feet and be a complete spaz/dork/nerd, the whole audience was wondering the same thing. And when he started to sing...oh my God. I just had to wonder how a face like that could produce the voice of an angel. (and remember, they were trying to make him look bad...his looks have improved some, and the fact that he has so much talent makes him infinately sexier, but come on, he's still a bit odd looking.)

Caleb, what songs would you recommend for a voice like that? He did what he could. Granted there's not much call for his type of voice these days and it's not rock or pop. Broadway musicals would be great for him. I could really see him doing Phantom of the Opera. I think he'd be great in that. But with that face, and that voice, I just don't see a lot of opportunity.

Selling 300,000 records doesn't make a good musician any more than selling a billion burgers makes McDonald's a "good" restaurant.

Most "good" musicians AREN'T that well known, because they aren't sex symbols or pre-packaged tv dinners.

Just like selling 300,000 doesn't guaruntee a quality musician, NOT selling 300,000 does not guaruntee a quality musician.

Edited for demeanor.

Kat, have you listened to that boy's voice? Or you Caleb? He can sing. He might have crap songs, but when David Foster picks you and produces a record that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise, you pretty much agree to sing what he asks.

You might dislike the song choice, but the voice...you can't knock the voice.

Not selling 300,000 records doesn't guaruntee quality musicianship, sure. But YOU'RE the one who used album sales as a quality comparison tool.

I'll give the kid another listen. Tomorrow. But if I can't stand his Italian it'll all be over. [Smile]
