It's World Book Day today, and in honour of this the Guardian has a poll going: Which fictional character do you have the hots for? ? Anyway, I thought it was an interesting enough question to ask the denizens of Hatrack.
So... please reveal your fictional crushes, in the interests of... well, just for interest, really.

Ditto on the Joscelin Verreuil Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables Ivan Smetski from Enchantment Gabriel from Archangel, and also Obadiah Erik from Phantom of the Opera (in a strange, twisted sort of way) Along the same lines, the Beast in Robin McKinley's Beauty And there's several heros from romance novels whom I'd happily marry, but I'm not sure they'd count as "literary".... Dread Pirate Westley I'm tentatively seconding Erik. Wasn't going to at first, but the more I think about it... I don't know if I could get around the masque, though.

Yeah, I'm still pondering that one. Minus the visual, he's definitely on the list, though. Otherwise his hotness could be more on an empathetic level. Actually, the Erik in Susan Kay's Phantom may be more who I had in mind when I first posted.

Ender Wiggin (This one got me in a lot of trouble before I learned to stop dating the tortured loners. They are NOT automatically Ender from Speaker underneath.)Posts: 26077 | Registered: Mar 2000

Either one of the Weasley twins. I would also second Inigo Montoya. Basically anyone who can weild a sword.
Edit to add: Faramir. Definitely Faramir. And if I could have a girl crush, it would be Eowyn. She's incredible and I love her.

I like Ender from Speaker a lot too Katie, but yeah. No crushes.
My crushes include:
Gilbert Blythe from AOGG Ivan Smetski from Enchantment Faramir. He's just my type. George Knightley from Emma Fitzwilliam Darcy. Of course. Hamlet from Hamlet (This is my twisted sick crush.) And is it wrong that i had a crush on Abraham after I read Sarah?
edit to add one I forgot: Walter from Rilla of Ingleside. That was probably the most unhealthily real crush I had on a literary character when I was a teenager.

Jamie from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. One of the most romantic guys of all time.
Nicholas Harpole from Kage Baker's Company series. Especially if he overcame his martyr complex.
Mr. Darcy. Need I say more? I much prefer him to Mr. Rochester of Jane Eyre.
Beast from Beauty and the Beast (any version).
If I was a decade or so younger, I'd probably go for a Weasley twin myself. More so than Harry or Ron, anyway.
And yes, Wesley would be cool, but you've got to remember that he liked BUTTERCUP. Anyone who would be ga-ga over her is probably not my type after all.

Quinn from "Once a Theif" and "Always a theif." He's a gentleman at heart... even if he is the world's most elusive cat burglar.

Daenerys Targaryen, the First of her Name, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, called the Stormborn, the Unburnt, the Mother of Dragons.
Or Dany for short .
Sansa Stark as well, from the scene of her in the snow onward.
Valentine from the Ender books (Ender's Game and young Val from CotM).
I would say Hermione, but to be honest, I think its more Emma Watson's Hermione that I have a crush on, not so much Hermione from the books.

Oh, this is embarrassing to admit, but when I was in middle school I read all of those. But Logan? Really? I always favored Troy.

Yeah, I always root for the underdog. Logan was her first love, he was so constant (well until that whole Fanny thing). I know Troy was kind of the underdog, too...but I kept rooting for Logan the whole time.
I can't believe I remember so much about those books. I haven't read them since high school.

Aragorn- He is the perfect man. Sure, it's nice that he was played by someone hot in the movies, but he was hot in the books long before Viggo even thought of playing the part. I've never read a book with a guy character that's so very hot based merely on the reading before or since.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about Lars from Anne McCaffrey. Though F'lar wouldn't be bad either, or Jeffrey from the Rowan. You know what? She just writes great guys. Her women, though - shrews.

And I really like Tai.
(And just to clarify, all of these are in response to the post above mine, not to the original question. )
