We'll all go crazy going through that list, my friend. I think it's too hard to tell. Mazer has to be kinda... OLD, so you can rule out alot of those people. I think we can ESPECIALLY rule out Robin Williams.

I disagree. Robin Williams CAN be excellent if given the right script. I could see him playing the part.

But Shaman, I can't believe you left out the absolute best person for the role: Morgan Freeman. He's perfect, and in my opinion, one of the best and most underrated actors alive. Even in crappy movies he manages to shine.

Actually, as I look over your list again I can't help wondering if this is your attempt at sarcasm? Bruce Willis? Patrick Stewart? Could you have picked worse actors?

Mickey Rourke? [ROFL]
Robin Williams would not be so great.
Christopher Walken is a little too creepy for my taste. (Too creepy as Mazer, for his previous roles creepy is obviously good.)
I like the idea of Morgan Freeman. Definitely could work.

Sean Connery is the best name on the list IMHO. A lot of these others don't strike me as tough enough to play Rackman.

Shaman: its funny that you ask this because this is one of the rare characters in Ender's Game that I always imagine a certain character playing the role. His name is...

Kris Kristofferson - the old dude in Blade.
I just googled him and now I know his is also a singer / songwriter. Huh.

I rather picture Mazer as a skinny tough sort of dude. Tall, skinny with stubble and long greyish hair.
Like that dude that does kung fu. I like him.

Because you said you thought George Clooney should play the part of Mazer.

I'm trying to think of a better reason to mock somebody.

Goliath from the Gargoyles? He's too... sinister. Although a black Graff might be interesting.

Maybe lawrence fishburn?... Avery Brooks?

You guys are going by good actors (which is a good strategy) but you have to have someone that *looks* battlehardened.

Like say, Michael Ironside as Mazer Rackham.

For Graff..hmm...Liam Neeson.

Morgan Freeman is a good choice in my mind. He's one of those actors that can play both the poor black guy on the streets and at the same time look very authoritive. However I can't see him fighting Ender(Literally) and while he is a good actor a lot of people would be surprised to see him do a movie like Ender's Game. I'm sure that the part where Mazer actually wrestles Ender could be edited out but I still couldn't see Morgan Freeman doing a role like Mazer's. Sean Connery seems like a better choice to me. Mazer is one of those characters that is serious when he wants to be but at the same time has funny side, much like Sean Connery. If only we could get rid of that accent...
As for Graff I always pictured him as Tom Sizemore, which is possibly the worst choice for Graff ever...

Anthony Hopkins would be a great Mazer. He would also make a brilliant Ender, if only he was 60 years younger...

If I had to choose from your propositions, than Morgan Freeman and Ken Watanabe [Smile]

But then I always imagined Mazer as having a kind of... wild feeling about him, and for example A.Hopkins (much as I adore him) is simply too elegant! (hmmm... on consideration, no he's not! I was just thinking the Mask of Zorro. I should be thinking Hannibal Lecter!!! [Big Grin] )

I think Christopher Lee would be awesome as Mazer. AND he has _the_voice_ [Big Grin]

Why not Mary-Kate Olsen as Ender and Ashley as Valentine. Or Bean. Or Whoever. [Big Grin]

Are you insinuating that Hannibal Lecter played by Hopkins was anything less than elegant? Maybe you should watch it again, because that guy has excellent manners, for a cannibal anyway.

Edward James Olmos (Adama from Battlestar Galactica, for those that don't recognize the name) would make a great Graff.

For Mazer, how about Malcolm McDowell?

Vonk, I'm not saying Lecter was NOT elegant, but he did have that strange "wilderness" in him that Diego de la Vega _definitely_ lacks [Smile]
