There's a big white cloud out my window. I've never seen it snow this hard before. My roommate says there's 9 inches on the ground already.

We had at least three snowstorms since Halloween, but right now the weather is fabulous. A little cold, but sunny in the Afternoons. And Y Mountain and the Timps still look pretty with snow on top.

It's not the snow that bothers me, though Philly is getting its fair share. I hate the wind. Nothing more painful than snow being whipped at your face at over 40mph thanks to the air currents between buildings.

I don't like doing it all at once since it takes about 4 times as long (total time not each individual time). all the snow gets compact and turns to ice then I have to repeatidly shove the shovel into it to get all the ice off.
We got about 20-24 inches.

I'm trapped in my apartment. I managed to get my tv working again at least. *sigh*
I had tickets to Les Miserables in Boston but it looks like I will not be going to do that today. Boo!

*laugh* Julie, go figure, we got maybe 1/4 inch. Just enough to dust the ground. Sometimes being North is advantageous

Well, we've got about 16 inches at this point, and it's still coming down. From what I've seen, it'll get up to about 35-37 degrees here on Sunday around midday, mid-afternoon, and there won't be any ice on top. Of course, it'll make the snow heavier as it melts. I only have a two car drive, with two cars in it, so there's not a whole heck of a lot of surface area to shovel.
I normally spray some WD-40 on the shovel, or PAM or something, so the snow doesn't stick to it. Makes it a little easier.

Here in Vancouver WA, we got our annual couple inches three weeks ago. The rain and the wind are still here. In fact we had big winds last week. I loaned my 10x20 tarp awning that to a Boy Scout Troop selling Christmas tree and apparently it decided that it was an airplane and flew across the busiest street (eight lanes) in town. Good news is no one got hurt, bad news it will never fly again.

I'm here in southern Ontario, and we have no snow. Not where I live, anyway. The place I lived at until last week has lots of snow, however, and it's less than an hour's drive north. Oh well. We'll see some soon enough.

Teshi, this storm is coming from the south (I know, weird, huh?), so maybe it's just not there yet. I know I freaked out when NYC had snow and we didn't, yet. (we are northwest of NYC, and usually WE get the storms first, after Ohio and PA)
I would like the snow more if it wasn't so windy out. My poor boxer got a face full of snow blowing sideways Straight In His Buggy Eyes. Poor Rocky!

Not sure what our accumulation is at this point, but it's still coming down. It's fine and light, but constant. I'm sure we're up in the 16-18 inch range, possibly higher, but I doubt it. I'm sure the news tomorrow morning will tell me.
As for school on Monday, it's gonna be rough. I know my town will have black streets with no problems, but the town I teach in will be a total mess. I better leave for work an extra half hour or more early.

Around here snow often comes from the south. I think I've mentioned the year I spent a week in the dorms alone so that I could beat a storm coming our way through Arkansas.

Snow made my husband shoot out the window of his truck. His NEW truck.
B@stard snow.
He was out hunting this morning, came back to the truck to leave because it was too snowy, dropped his rifle in the snow. Went to the truck to get a towel to dry off rifle. Started to dry off said rifle, and numb cold finger slipped--bang! $500 window replacement at Christmastime.
Just glad husband is not dead. That's what I keep telling myself.

That was not snow I had to walk two miles in on the side of the road at night. It was horrible, demonic freezing RAIN! Slashing at my face, soaking EVERYTHING. Snow is light, fluffy and delightful. This stuff came straight from hell to torture me. Worse of all, I might have to walk in it to work again today and back. Should I call in sick? Really, Should I?

No snow here. It's cold as all get out, though. I wish spring would come! This winter business is okay for a while but it gets old fast.

*looks outside her window* Hmmm... sun is shining, it's about 60 degrees outside... must be California. No snow here. Though it did rain like crazy yesterday. I'd prefer snow to rain, actually. At least it isn't so gloomy and depressing.

It regularly gets down to the thirties here, though not every day. But right now it's sunny and looks warmer than it probably is. No sign of precipitation of any kind.
There was a rainstorm that ended just before the reports of snow started coming in. Perhaps the next front will bring some.

at LSU, they put a bunch of snow out for us to play in on the Parade Grounds. It waas great. I love snow. My debate partner, Grace, and I went down and had a snowball fight, and wound up thoroughly sopping.

I don't really want to accuse your husband because it may have been a mistake, but why didn't he have the safety on?
And did he have his finger on the trigger, because you should NEVER have your finger on the trigger until ready to fire.
And why did he have ammo in the gun when he was drying it, because you should never have ammo in the gun unless it is in use.
And why did he point it at the truck, because you should always have the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Those are the most important rules when using a gun.

Ugh, I have no idea, I wasn't there, and I'm probably relating the story improperly.
He was, apparently, trying to put the safety on, and his finger slipped because it is very cold and his hands had gone numb. He was also pointing the gun towards the mountains, but the truck got in the way. *grin* Honestly, I have no idea.
*shuddup mack*
Actually, in twenty plus years of gun and rifle (and demolitions and electronic 'splody things, and cannon shoots and and and), this is one of two scary incidents that I know of, which is a fairly good record. The other 'scary' incident was when Mr. Army Guy busted his lip in Leadership school because he held the rifle incorrectly and the kick punched him in the mouth. (It was a very small wound) He sewed himself back together. Mmmm...MANLY stupidness.
edited to add: I asked again for clarification, and even though I probably still have it wrong, he had already dried it, and was reloading it and putting the safety on. Something. I don't know. Truly, this incident is a good lesson proving that anything can happen with guns, no matter how much training you have had. And more importantly: $500! Grrrr!
