Due to being linked and equated to the inestimable Banna and Tom, I'm seeing my name on Hatrack a great deal more lately. It's a kick. *grin*
But one thing is causing me such sadness. With your permission, I'd like to address it.
THERE ARE NO E'S IN MY SCREEN NAME. Nowhere. You can turn the letters over and over, and still, no e's in katharina. Not even in the middle, where you think there is one.
I can see how this is a bit puzzling, considering Katerina in Enchantment CLEARLY had an e in the middle of her name, and considering my given name (Katharine) also has an e in there somewhere, and yet, all can be explained. One is not my name, and in the other, the e is at the end.
I answer to Kat, Katie (most common in RL), Kate (my oh-so-professional and memorable work name), Katharine (the real thing. No one called/calls me this but my mother because she loved me and my middle brother because he wants to annoy me. Long story.), and katharina. All are acceptable and seeing them in print gives me the warm-fuzzy of existence confirmation. Thank you.
Katherine and katherina are creatures I know not of. I'm sure the real Katherines and katherinas are as puzzled as I am. For their sakes, I thank you.

I'm sure kat has a cubicle set up in her home for computer use. Don't all red blooded Americans?

Are you saying I'm not a red blooded American because I don't have a cubicle in my house?
I'll have to kick your butt for saying that, right after I finish eating my steak and drinking my beer while watching baseball spring training on TV.

Yes they do. I just wasn't sure if Kat was posting from her cubicle at work or the one in her apartment.

See, kat, you need to just start passive aggressively mis-spelling everyone else's name. Except for Dog. Just call him Rat. He loves that.

You know it was funny to me at WenchCon how many people actually called you 'Katerina' which was neither your name or your screen name. Did that bother you?

One night after going three days without sleep, I totally forgot her name, and didn't call her anything - I just referred to her as "Her" or "She". I got repremanded by her for it, and was told it was okay to call her 'Katie'. Which I did thereafter.

I revel in my lowercaseness as well. And since we're having this sort of thread, I will say my piece as well.
These are me: Anne Kate ak (when pronounced, say the letters) aka (ditto) ana kata
These are not me: Anne Anna Kate Ana Kate
If you like, you can call me "and gate", or use the symbol =D- (which is the logic symbol for an and gate). It's sort of an obscure electrical engineering student nickname for me. It started when a lab TA from China mangled my name but could say =D- pretty well, much closer to my name than what came out when he tried to say my name, so I told him he could just call me that and some of the other students thought it was funny.
