For my 500th post, I want to honour Tom Davidson.
Despite his claims that he is an arrogant person, I think he's great: empathetic, friendly, considerate and persuasive. It was he who commented on my poetry, virtually always led a sub-discusion in my threads, and persuaded me to stay on Hatrack. As wise as a 75 y.o., not quite 30 in age.
Now, that's a man full of dignity!
All hail Tom! All hail Tom! He is one who deserves an honour thread (although it's out of fashion by now).
Cheers, Tom, etc., Jonathan
EDIT: You are now entitled Sir Thomas of the Hatrackers, also knows as the Jatraqueros.

Thanks!!! I would've said I got it from you, as politeness and a nice deed. But you're newer than me, and the title... I got it from Tom.

(Flashback, or as my mum says, backflash- "What are your TRUE expectations of Bokonon?".)
My Aunt: "Oh, don't worry, Jonathan! We would NEVER give you away for ANYTHING!" Brother: "I don't know, I'd go for a Mars bar."

I just spent a little too long wondering if Tom would get a kick out of spelling honor with a "u" and feel it was more sophisticated, or if he would find it pretentious.

Did I infer incorrectly or are you suggesting I'm ostentatious for writing in British spelling? I'm Australian~!

Like Tom doesn't do a search for new threads with his name in the title every day anyway.... Oh, no, that was me. Nevermind.

I will admit, I have done that before. But for me it makes sense to search for "bev". And I pull up "beverages" far more than references to me. Posts: 7050 | Registered: Feb 2004

No no, JH, I was pondering which way Tom would spell honor. Wasn't suggesting anything about you, though I can see how that would be unclear from my post :X.
As an aside, which way to Canadians spell honor?

Now promise -- promise -- not to do this again. It's already going to take me a full hour to decompress.

At one time I was so pitiful, when I made my landmark thread and Tom hadn't posted in it I sent him an e-mail asking why. Now I know Tom is all about the Ralphster, but it's a forbeeeden love.
At least, that's what I convincingly told my therapist, and I believe it!

Ooo! If no more threads of this nature are to be made, I better offer my praises!
Tom, I don't care if it makes your head bigger. You are one cool cat. And by "cool", I mean that you are amazing at keeping yours, as well as holding steady to what you believe is Good and Right. I respect and admire that.

I remember when I first got to Kamacon. I had never been on Hatrack so I knew no one. Tom and Kat gave be a brief quiz touching on LOTR, Holy Grail, and Star Wars. He concluded that I was Hatrack material and let me in. It was a nice welcome to Hatrack. Posts: 1015 | Registered: Aug 2004

You'll notice that the six hungry orphans I turned away -- mainly because they didn't recognize the line "I am Inigo Montoya" -- haven't posted on this thread. And it's not just because they starved on a streetcorner, either.
That said, thank you. (I'll thank Christy privately.) But stop it.
