I'm preparing my invitations for the first May Revel at Dragonwood! E-mail me if you'd like to receive one. We will be dancing the Maypole, having fruit and cheese and herbal lemonade and May wine, playing outside, and generally having a good time. You might take a hike through the woods to see the dragon. You might sneak off to smooch with your love and bless my land. Whatever makes you happy!

Jenny, is this going to be on Mayday itself (ie a Monday) or on the weekend just prior to it?

First Saturday in May. It usually ends up corresponding with somebody's graduation party, but that's May for ya.

Wish I could go. I would totally go if I were in Dallas still, had a little money, and, you know, wasn't having a baby in a week or two.

I can't make it, not unless every star aligns just right! But can I send some goodies for the stash?

I don't think I can, I just turned down a different travel opportunity for that weekend (but for an hour further away), if something changes though I may contact Stray.

So Saturday the 7th? I may be able to make it, but I'll have to double check before I can say for sure.

Hey Jenny, if you check your email, please reply via the address in my profile here. Not the address I sent from. (That's my work address and I won't see it until next week.)

Chris and I are going to try to make this. I've been having wanderlust lately and a bit of a road trip sounds like just the ticket.
If any Hatrackers live between Hanover, PA and Dragonwood and want a ride, we'll be passing through on Thursday night or Friday during the day, returning on Saturday night/Sunday. I can seat two more people (other than Chris and myself ) Email me if you're interested. Addy in profile.

Karl, any chance you'll be passing close to Dayton, OH on your way? I'm not utterly sure where Dragonwood is yet, since I haven't emailed Jenny.

I'm thinking without a map here, and I'm not absolutely sure where Dragonwood is, but I'm pretty sure I know which quarter of my state (north west is my guess), so he could be, but I'd think he'd take 70, and that would put him through Columbus instead of Dayton.

We are expecting a tax refund (we waited to file because we thought we would owe taxes), so maybe I can be very selfish and squeak it...

Oh wow, I shouldn't post without a map. And I'm not sure he'll take 70, that's just the road that makes sense to me, everytime I've been to PA we've gone that way (not so to Ohio but that's because we don't take interstates for random rides which Ohio can be.)

I think this would, unforunately, take more vacation time than I can spare within the next two months.

Karl, when would you be making the return trip?
Mapquest sends me to Indianapolis before going North to Dragonwood. It looks to me like I'm going right through Dayton, and 7 miles doesn't even begin to count as "out of my way".
At the moment, we're thinking of starting back Saturday night after the revel. I'm sure we could get as far as Dayton before pooping out. But I'm flexible. What did you have in mind?

Saturday night or Sunday either one would work for me; I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to be staying longer than that. What time do you think you'll be passing through Dayton on Friday? I'd just as soon get as much of a day's work in as possible.
On the way back you guys are welcome to crash at my place if you want to save yourselves the cost of a hotel room. I can only offer couches*, unfortunately, but you're welcome to them.
Oh, you should probably be warned that I have a cat. She's low allergen-producing, but if you're allergic to them you probably won't want to stay with me.
*I'm thinking of getting one of those inflatable beds for occasions just such as this one, though, so my getting one of those would be an option if you guys decide you do want to crash.

Mapquest says it's about 7 hours 45 min. to Dayton from my place. It's 2 h 45 min. from Dayton to Dragonwood. We actually *have* an inflatable bed. If you can offer a floor for two nights, we can meet you on Friday and get an early start for Dragonwood on Saturday morning, come back Saturday night and head back to Hanover on Sunday. What do you think?
Oh, and a cat isn't a problem, except maybe with getting Chris to stop petting it.

That sounds great! Bring the bed and I can offer you as much floorspace as you could possibly want.
Cat Friend is an incredibly friendly little cat, so I expect that Chris'll have a new friend by the time you guys head home.
If it works for you I'll give Pod a call and see if he's interested either in going with us or with coming down on Friday, either one. Fiazko would be ordinarily, but she's going to be in Cancun that week.

Super. Drop me an email with your address and what time on Friday 5/5 you want us to shoot for. We might do some of the driving Thursday night and give us time to hit any spots of interest on Friday before Dayton. (Do you know of any such spots between PA and Dayton?)
It would be great to meet Pod, if he can make it. (Fiazko, too, but I can't compete with Cancun, apparently. )

Sure, I'll email you tonight with address, phone number, and all that. I'm not really familiar with points east of Dayton, unfortunately. I was going to suggest stopping at the showroom of the place that makes those spring loaded stilt things I've been drooling over, but I think that they're actually a fair bit north and a little bit east of Hanover, so that won't work.
If you guys are up for it Sunday morning, there is a great local breakfast place you need to try. Best pancakes I've ever had, period, and their asparagus/roasted garlic/feta omlet is stunningly good. Most of their stuff is, actually.

The solution to all of this jealousy is to just throw reason to the wind and head for Dragonwood.

We don't have much indoors room, but outdoors there is plenty! If anyone wants to camp out before or after the Revel, feel free! We can have a weenie roast and night rambles. Be forewarned: early and late folk will be put to work!
If you want to donate something, a nice cheese, fancy crackers, or fresh fruit would be welcome.
I'm so excited that Hatrackers are coming! My hubby just sighs and shakes his head. I'm trying to find my address on Mapquest: I have to make a map because there is going to be a little challenge with parking.

Don't suppose anybody is coming through the Atlanta area and willing to share a ride? I'd pay gass money and help with the driving...

Jenny, I sent you an email the other day, but I got a message this morning saying that it hadn't been delivered (but hadn't yet failed). Is there a better address to send it to than the one in your Hatrack profile?

breyerchic, fugu asked if I'd have room in my car, so I assume he's riding with me. You're more than welcome to come as well if you like, I've still got two seats available
